Hell, my wife is one of the smartest people I know and she is a talker. We used to own an Art Gallery and every year we would partner with the Fox tv station here to raise money for foster kids (Motives has seen it I'm sure. Fox 8 Gifts 4 Kids). We would have about 10-15 local artists create originals for us, we would frame them and we would do a silent auction with 100% of the money going to the program. Well, each year they would interview my wife and I and we would go to the studio to give them the check live on TV. My wife couldn't handle it I would always be the one that had to do the talking. We would run the VCR at home to see what they were saying when we got back. It was neat because they would go to commercial during their news hour and have live shots of the gallery and the people in it. They would have commercials through out the week saying "Join Oak Hollow Art and Frame and Fox 8 News for a silent auction to raise money for....."
It was really rewarding and fun but also a lot of hard work. When we finally decided to close the gallery it was sad, but also kind of a relief. So much stress owning and running a retail store by outselves, especially with me having a full time job and then running to the store after 5:00 to build frames and stuff. I'm glad we did it though. | ||||
