Why YOU are responsible for anti-American terrorism TODAY

BUSH: So the Palestinians had an election yesterday, the results of which remind me about the power of democracy.

You see, when you give people the vote, you give people a chance to express themselves at the polls, they -- and if they're unhappy with the status quo, they'll let you know.

That's the great thing about democracy: It provides a look into society.

And yesterday, the turnout was significant, as I understand it. And there was a peaceful process as people went to the polls. And that's positive.

What was also positive is that it's a wakeup call to the leadership.

BUSH: Obviously, people were not happy with the status quo.

The people are demanding honest government. The people want services. They want to be able to raise their children in an environment in which they can get a decent education and they can find health care.

And so the elections should open the eyes of the old guard there in the Palestinian territories.

I like the competition of ideas. I like people that have to go out and say, "Vote for me and here's what I'm going to do." There's something healthy about a system that does that.

And so the elections yesterday were very interesting.
President Bush Holds a White House Press Conference - washingtonpost.com

In a mystifying self-contradiction, Bush trumpeted that "the Palestinians had an election yesterday, the results of which remind me about the power of democracy." If elections were really the same as democracy, and if Bush was so happy about the process, then we might expect him to pledge to work with the results, which by his lights would be intrinsically good. But then he suddenly swerved away from this line of thought, reverting to boilerplate and saying, "On the other hand, I don't see how you can be a partner in peace if you advocate the destruction of a country as part of your platform. And I know you can't be a partner in peace if you have a -- if your party has got an armed wing."

So Bush is saying that even though elections are democracy and democracy is good and powerful, it has produced unacceptable results in this case, and so the resulting Hamas government will lack the legitimacy necessary to allow the United States to deal with it or go forward in any peace process. Bush's double standard is clear in his diction, since he was perfectly happy to deal with Israel's Likud Party, which is dedicated to the destruction of the budding Palestinian state, and which used the Israeli military and security services for its party platform in destroying the infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority throughout the early years of this century. As Orwell reminded us in "Animal Farm," some are more equal than others.
Salon.com | How do you like your democracy now, Mr. Bush?

On Saturday, the U.S. consul-general in Jerusalem, Jacob Walles, said an international aid embargo imposed after the Islamic militants won parliamentary elections last year would not apply to the new, Hamas-free government of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
U.S., Israel map Palestinian approach - Yahoo! News

So we apply pressure for the Palestinians to hold free and open elections, and everyone American could clearly see this, however our tinkering in elections produced an electorate that voted not in sync with what Washington wanted, like when Spain elected an anti-iraq war party

After these elections, when the Palestinian people have chosen of their own free will in secret ballot for a political party to lead their parliament, what do we do? We give arms to the political minority we like more, and cut off aid. We continually support the minority and voted out party with whatever we can and press the issue, sure enough all this aid to help a voted-out party so they could have the stronger voice in a country which voted in a different party...we ended up funding a coup of a democratically elected government in elections we pressed for...

To end any debate over how much we disrespect Arab democracy, we tell them that as a reward for overthrowing the democratically elected government, we are going to give the minority party aid, supplies, while denying aid to the democratically elected government and trying to starve out over a million Palestinians

Get that, Arabs? If you run an election, it better be for whoever the US tells you to vote for, or else we are going to fund the losing party, aid them in a coup, and then isolate your majority and starve them

Anyone here from a state with a corrupt state government? Imagine if you voted out the corrupt state government, and were happy, finally you kicked out the crooks, then the federal government, which it couldn't do without the help from Russia, would isolate and seal off your state, cut off any federal aid, funds, halt trade, basically everything to destroy your states economy and turn it into a wasteland

Attacking the government which shut you out would be useless, even the most gun-crazy person on here has nothing to challenge F-16s, and a bunch of your friends with rifles are pretty useless compared to attack helicopters, jets, and heavily armed tanks

What would you do, use guerilla tactics, which wouldn't work when you are blockaded by an overwhelming military force that doesn't go inside your territory, anything even resembling an attack across the border of your state would be easily spotted and destroyed with a huge bombardment of artillery, tanks, bombers, etc

Every military base and target has overwhelming security, there is no realistic way to fight back as you've been condemned to starve just for voting out the crooks

The only option is to sneak into the soft targets, which unfortunately are loaded with civilians, and do enough damage to try and bring them to the table, you've become a terrorist

A Palestinian boy who had no interest in fighting is becoming a man, and he just voted against Fattah in the last election, he is faced with that situation, the US is out to starve his people because they voted in a democracy a certain way, there is no way he, or even his people, could defeat the entrenched Israeli positions surrounding him, the only option is to slowly starve and watch his sisters, nieces and mother die a miserable death, or do SOMETHING...unfortunately the only option is terrorism

What does he hear on the radio? All of the US involvement in helping the party he voted against and punishing his people for their vote

What does this create? Not only a terrorist, but an anti-US terrorist

Where are the Americans protesting this action? Nowhere to be seen, Democrats and Republicans are both given orders by the Israeli lobby, any protest march would be labelled Jew-hating because of the overwhelming power of the Jewish lobbying groups

So the American people sit silent while we clearly see us oppressing the Palestinian people...and the American people will be fully responsible if they attack us...this is a post 9/11 world and we are fully aware of our actions, we are asking for more attacks on Americans, we are asking for terrorism

You reading this, by not protesting against this, are given tacit support to the US government's action to create terrorists, and if any American you love is killed by a Gaza citizen in the future, it's your own fault.

I found it to be quite funny that we tout elections until the people we don't like are elected.

Which is exactly why invasion and nation-building are a bad idea.
