| Giuliani states: "American foreign policy had NOTHING to do with September 11th." So Mr. Would-Be-President, what caused September 11th? Well, here's his answer.
Giuliani's reasons for why we were attacked:
Yes, that's it right there folks. Let's piss on the 9/11 Commission Report. Let's ignore the opinion of the second-highest ranking official in the United States Department of Defense. I'm sure those pencil-pushing eggheads are probably just making shit up anyway. Giuliani offers a far more concise and accurate summation regarding the causality behind the terrorist attacks of September 11th. To think, this asshole actually wants to be President of the United States of America. He wants to be the highest-ranking military leader in this country. He wants to hold the most powerful position in the world. My astonishment of his mind-numbing stupidity is only outweighed by the realization that a large portion of the population actually supports this so-called - albeit self-proclaimed - "expert on terrorism." /rant

However given the reality of the widespread limited understanding of the situation is there much electorial mileage in RP giving RG this stick to beat him with? It's ironic that those who proposed the war also sought to exploit the percieved general desire to not think very far. I suspect that this woefull situation is actually desired by many politicos coz it makes their task easier, (& a big hello to a Mr R Murdoch from this library). Worse, by assuming that the public is thick, easily bored & desirous of pat, trite analysis they actually help make it true.* OTOH the reaction to such tendancies is the soil in which RP's appeal grows, isnt it? *Mirror, mirror! | ||||

| Yet bin Laden found himself, by the mid-1990s, bottled up in the Afghan badlands, having been stripped of his Saudi nationality and booted out of ostensibly "Islamist"-ruled Sudan. Among his camp mates, the ragtag leftovers of the Muslim foreign legion of Afghanistan, the fire of armed jihad still burned. But their passion lacked a satisfactory immediate outlet. Radical insurgencies had been defeated, or severely constrained, across a number of local fronts, from Egypt to Algeria to the southern Philippines. Most ordinary Muslims in these countries, as Randal observes, had not merely failed to join in the fight but questioned its very premises. With these so-called "near enemies" in Asia and the Middle East proving inconveniently resilient, the idea emerged of transferring jihadist zeal instead to the "far enemy." Hitting the United States would in itself score points, considering that America was seen as a pillar of support for compromised Muslim regimes, such as Egypt's and Saudi Arabia's, that bin Laden had as his target. The boldness of attacking the strongest world power would propel Islam (or rather, the jihadists' version thereof) onto the geo- political stage as a force demanding equal stature. This would not only inspire reluctant jihadists to join in the fight. It would also help cement the broader, and growing, Muslim sense that their faith was somehow under threat, and needed vigorous defense. The September 11 attacks, destructive beyond the wildest dreams of their planners, were the extreme outcome of such thinking. "No doubt," writes Randal, "bin Laden hoped the fear and loathing he inspired so widely would outlive him and help plunge the Islamic world into a convulsive "clash of civilizations" with the West. The attacks on New York and Washington were designed not just as payback for the real and imagined grievances he felt that Muslims had suffered, but to set off just such a conflagration." The Truth About Jihad - The New York Review of Books Rudy should be careful of talking in such simple terms to such simple minded people who listen with rocks to throw.

| "O our people in Baghdad for the tribulation equals the strength of our Aqeedah so be cheerful for you have had the honor and blessing of Jihad, which is a gift from Allah to the best of His creation. Who ever denies this blessing Allah has called him an apostate and he is weak in faith for Allah Almighty said:“O you who believe, if you revert from your religion, (Islam) then Allah will substitute in your place people whom He loves and who love Him. They will be kind with the believers, stern with the disbelievers, and will strive in the cause of Allah without fear of any blame. Such is Allah's blessing; He bestows it upon whomever He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient, the All-Knower.” Qur’an 5: 54And Allah’s love is precious and Allah’s provision is paradise. The signs of victory can be seen and the cross worshipper’s defeat is obvious and progressive, all praise be to Allah.
