Get Ready for Global Cooling?

"Solar scientists predict that, by 2020, the sun will be starting into its weakest Schwabe solar cycle of the past two centuries, likely leading to unusually cool conditions on Earth. Beginning to plan for adaptation to such a cool period, one which may continue well beyond one 11-year cycle, as did the Little Ice Age, should be a priority for governments. It is global cooling, not warming, that is the major climate threat to the world, especially Canada. As a country at the northern limit to agriculture in the world, it would take very little cooling to destroy much of our food crops, while a warming would only require that we adopt farming techniques practiced to the south of us."

A Very long read to get to this paragraph. But an interesting one at that. Far be it for me to pretend to grasp all the science of it. But Solar Activity and earths pre-industrial climate history strikes a cord in my reasoning process. Damn the Sun messing with political climate change!

How could Canadians be predicting cooling via sunspots, you just can't trust them! They don't even see the moon at night like the rest of the world does. Everyone knows Canadians have no moon, so how can we trust their moonless-night science. For all we know their global cooling predictions could simply be a ruse!

this is getting how much media attention? Oh yeah none...

The only people with a real voice in the mainstream media are those that are frantic about global warming. There has long been debate about what exactly has caused global warming but many were silenced and will continue to be silenced. As soon as things start to cool off all the sackriders will say "see our progress is working" or they'll say "See we hit the tipping point, we're slipping into an ice age"

Yes, darn the media for not giving equal (or perhaps more?) attention to the incredibly small minority of scientists who work for the energy industry and are paid to believe humanity is incapable of having an impact on the environment!

Probably because they were in the pockets of big oil, and there is not one example of any of them having a credible peer-reviewed paper published to their name.

These "many" change their tune depending on who pays them the most, and are generally hated in the scientific community for not staying true to the facts, I hesitate to call these "many" you speak of; scientists.

They are more like "dirty praetorian mouthpieces" -- pandering to the Fossil Barons.

And as an aside -- if you are looking to mainstream media for actual-factual science, then you need to wipe your misconceptions. Try reading a prestigious international peer-reviewed journal like Science or Nature

If you look to the same mainstream media sources that told you Saddam was tied to 9/11, the same sources that covered the Anna Nicole Smith death for days, and also the very same mainstream media sources that asserted (if only to cause fear and panic) that the fallacious "Dirty Bomb" was ever a threat to anyone. I am sorry to say you must shift perceptions from "ludicrous and foolish" a step up to maybe "slightly ridiculous".
