isn't education supposed to make people more than what they were before? give them more EDUCATION. teach them about the world. make sure they aren't ignorant about important issues. I think offering a religious basics elective in HS would be a good start towards that... I would have taken it.

well if it was taught alongside other ideologies, I wouldn't have a problem with it. as long as the major ones, and some minor ones were taught. give the kids an idea of what belief structures are out there, if they choose to have one.

well it's a different thing to actually see what's out there first. usually you become what your parents are by default. to actually get a basis for comparison at a younger age is rare, but would definitely be beneficial in the long run, one would think.

i'm talking about an elective. not an ongoing class like math or science. an elective for one semester or half year that goes over the belief structures of the mainstream and some minor religions. I think it would do well to help get rid of a lot of religious intolerance and ignorance we have today. do you disagree?
