if the american people elect a moron, is it just a mistake or a religious issue

And what about if someone vandalizes a church with "anti" church slogans? Isn't that a religious issue?

say what?

yeah, if it's about religion, then it's a religious issue as well as a vandalism/hate issue. but this isn't, nor are the examples i posted. that's like saying 'what if it's really a religious issue'

Since Catholics consider churches to be sacred, I would think burning one down would be a religious issue, but what do Catholics know, right?

So this has nothing to do with religion when she is in a church and being helped by the congregation?

I suppose anyone could do that anywhere, right?

I saw this on the news, how ridiculous is it to think we're worried about going in a building to arrest someone who's breaking the law?

If it were any other type of building, or any other type of criminal, we wouldn't be waiting around.

I hope this sparks debate about 'anchor babies' as Lou Dobbs called them the other night.. If a person is not a legal citizen, citizenship should not be automatically transferred to the child..

Since when did the Sanctuary law of the church override the law of the land? Here in So Cal, the Catholic Church is VERY VERY VERY Pro-Illegal, and very open about it. So, I would bet donuts that this is a catholic church she is hiding in, since it was Catholic Church's who started the "sanctuary" (I believe), and not only that, the Catholic Church also has had lowered attendence, and part of their whole spiel about the illegal's having rights, is so that way they'll tithe to the church.

Lou Dobbs is absolutley right about Anchor Babies. Come to an urban ER any day of the week in SO CAL, and you'll see mexican women, who don't speak English, there, without insurance, or a Primary Care Physician, there in labor. A girl friend of mine, who went into labor, had to be put on a wait list to have her baby (essentially waiting in line) because so many women had crowded, and 80% of them were illegals. This issue leads me to believe that maybe birthright citizenship isn't necessary anymore.

Don't bother with the "How do YOU know they are illegal...." crap...because when you grow up with it, you know. If it were a Game Show, I'd flippin win the jackpot.

CNN.com - Activist holed up in church, agents not going in - Aug 19, 2006

So now she's like, in the church, and it's not like they chased her in there...

And she's like, daring them to come in and get her.

Seriously, someone send this bitch back to her country.

Arellano was deported shortly after illegally crossing into the United States in 1997. She returned within days. She was arrested in 2002 and convicted of working under a false Social Security number.

She has since become a vocal proponent for immigration reform and is president of United Latino Family, a group that lobbies for families that could be split by deportation.
Her son is 7 (was born around 1999). So she snuck into the country illegally, had a kid and now feels she should get to stay. Fuck her. I say we deport her to Cuba and say we misunderstood her cause we don't speak Spanish. Let her figure her own way home.

Maybe then Mexico won't seem so bad.

America needs to stop being the shitting can for Mexicans who think they have the right to be in our country.

I agree. And it goes to show you how easy it is to get into this country when she got caught crossing, but then came back a couple days later. And then she worked with a false SSN? Why isn't she being prosecuted for identity theft as well? If you have someone's SSN, why do I doubt it's just for work?

Oh...and apparently....

Sanctuary was also a right to be safe from arrest in the sanctuary of a church or temple, recognized by English law from the 4th to the 17th century.

Sanctuary - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Um isn't this little "law" a little outdated? So it's something that was never recognized in the US, and it was only recognized until the 1600s in England?

I don't believe getting arrested in a church qualifies against freedom of religion. She can still be whatever religion she wants. She can practice it in her own country when she gets shipped back.

I'm gonna break into Mexico. Steal $50k or so from their government over 10 years and then claim I'm a refugee too. See how long they let me sit in a church.

Not seeing what that has to do with it. No one is being arrested because of their speech or religion, but rather their immigration status.

If we were arresting someone inside a McDonalds, would that be a violation of their 1st Amendment rights to free expression in the form of whorfing down a Big Mac?

While I agree, isn't being born in the US make you a citizen because of the constitution?
