| So I took some new pictures For some scale, the garden is 12 feet long and 4 feet wide. Here you can see the cucumbers taking over growing down the side of the garden. Tomatoes like woah. There are lots more coming too. Basil My lone pepper plant. There is some Greek Oregano growing next to it on the ground. You can't really tell but these are carrots | ||||

| Looks like a decent ammount of tomatoes. I use to have them, jalapeno peppers and cilentro planted so that I could make salsa when there were too many tomatoes to just eat. Also, with all of that basil you have you could bake a lot of those tomatoes with some basil and sharp cheese. Yum. I use to have a large garden when I lived in Seattle with my father. lots of herbs (my favorite being rosemary), zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, eggplant, watermelon, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, onions, broccoli, some fruit trees (one plum and two green gage trees) Also had a few carrots, but not many. Aside from the salsa, I think the zucchini and the potatoes were my favorite. I really miss that garden, it was a great place to sit and relax in, we also had a lot of flowers and a wall of roses so that it smelled rather nice mixed with all of the herbs and vegies. Good times. | ||||

| real men farm their land. there is nothing better about summer than fresh veggies. i can make whole meals of them, something i'd never dream of doing in the winter, and my carnivorous tendencies are quite strong. epicurious.com is great site for those who enjoy cooking, and their list of cucumber recipes is extensive. | ||||

| Why would anyone think gardening excludes sex with women? It's a hobby after all not like farming which consumes your entire day. I find gardening relaxing myself though I wish we had a bit longer growing season here in northern Michigan. I see WickedLou9 has already picked cucumbers while mine are just now blossoming. We have had peas, some small beets we steamed and radishes. But everything else will have to wait a while. The whole family loves the fresh vegetables although when it comes to weeding it's usually "dad's garden". | ||||

The southwest corner of the state is a sort of micro-climate, and it's different than the entire rest of the state. I am actually in Zone 7a, where as the rest of the state is zone 6. We can plant 3 or 4 weeks earlier and the first frost occurs 3 or 4 weeks later than it does just 150 miles north in the northern portion of the state. You guys are way up there in Zone 4.

If you are growing vegetables, you can probably plant any day after the last frost. This year I just went to home depot and bought a bunch of seedlings and planted those. It's easier than starting from seeds. | ||||

| cool garden. We just installed one. It is too late to plant it now though even for pumpkins. I was hoping to become a garden planting fiend but it didn't happen. I am just trying to keep our grass alive right now as it has been one hot summer so far. | ||||

| Grass is harder than you think! My front yard has bare spots all over the place. Seed doesn't want to take. most of it is dry and crispy and I am watering it every day. | ||||
