I'm also talking about bar patrons vs. people who will vote against it even if they don't go out.

Which "public" are you talking about?

Public as in places that are paid for in tax dollars, or public as in someones private property that they allow you to use?

malls, family restaurants (or at least have a smoke-free zone), government buildings, office buildings, public transportation...... most places where smoking is already not allowed.

i love that smoking has been banned in restaurants and bars here. it's so nice not to have to go home at the end of a night smelling like an ashtray. it hasn't reduced businessess' profits at all because all the smokers still go out, they just go outside to smoke.

Whites are still the majority...so I don't see what you're trying to do except make a spiteful post...

And it's clear that white males were a minority in 1787

I'd be willing to bet you'd see fewer businesses affected in highly populated areas compared to sparsely populated areas. In the country, if you can't go to the local watering hole to smoke and get drunk, you can always drive down a dirt road and sit in the back of your pickup truck with your friends and smoke and get drunk.

You would think that would be enough, but they don't allow even smoking sections in many places. I guess even the thought of someone smoking can cause cancer to some people.

You realize you never had to smell like an ashtray at all, right?
You weren't forced to be around smokers, you chose to put yourself in that situation. There are plenty of smoke-free places you could have gone.

And businesses here are suffering. Why go to a bar that won't let you smoke when you can drive a few minutes across the county line where you can smoke. Bars are closing down all over in cook county.

I pointed out that there were hispanics, and even one way in which they came to be americans, and your logical response to me pointing out the facts is: so hispanics were "huge majorities"

All I said was white males were the minority power who oppressed various groups, not that they were majorities...and the fact that they weren't "huge majorities" has nothing to what I posted except to try and say the fact that you were wrong is insigificant because blacks, hispanics, etc were not "huge majorities"...

yup. that's my mom.

if you wanted to go out to bars (as everyone did in college), you were going to smell like an ashtray at the end of the night. it was a given. i'm not allowed to say it's nice not to smell like an ashtray anymore?

well, i don't live in cook country and I didn't vote for the ban in cook country, so cook county has to deal with that. here in Suffolk county, no one's complaining.

I've been to the bar plenty of times, and I've never come home smelling like an ash tray despite the fact that there were no "non-smoking" sections in any of the bars I went to. A couple of people in my group of friends even smoked, but I never came home smelling of cigarettes.

To come home "smell[ing] like an ashtray at the end of the night" you really have to pretty much throw the contents of an ashtray onto yourself, in my experience.

Say it all you want, but know that people are having their rights trampled on so you can smell pretty.

You really think no one has a problem with the ban?

well then you didn't go to the bars I went to. they were small, crowded and everybody smoked because it was the cool thing to do. so yes, i came home smelling like an ashtray at the end of the night.

I haven't skimmed the whole thread... all that i know is that when i go to a smoke free bar or bowling alley, when i get home i dont stink like shit, my eyes do not burn, and i typically get laid. When i go to places with smoking, especially heavy smoking, I do not get laid, my eyes water when i get home, and i have to wash my clothes 5 times.

dude! i don't care either way about the ban. i'm just saying now that it's in Boston, it's nice not to smell like smoke every time i go out.

You really think no one has a problem with the ban?
I'm sure the ~majority~ of people here don't care. I dont know about cook county. don't even know what state that's in. don't care.

Masturbating does not count as getting laid
