I just got back from the DMV...

I had to get license plates for my motorcycle, my 30 day tag runs out today... ( I lied about the purchase price and still the cost of transferring the title, taxes, and plates that last only until my birthday, which is only 3 months away, came to about $100 bucks... fucking ridiculous) anyways...

There was an old dude there in line, he was probably... 65 closing on 70. Well, he had brought his dad in to renew his drivers license. The entire time I stood in line this woman is trying to give him the sight test and screaming throughout the entire room because the guy can't hear or understand a damn thing. He is reading (or trying to read) the large letters but he either doesn't understand the concept of the side-flashing lights, or can't see them at all unless told exactly where to look and moving his head. Over and over and over she has him reading the same line and trying to coax him into giving the correct answer about "where is the light flashing, in your right or your LEFT eye? you have to tell me where..." and he still has no fucking clue. I swear that this went on for over over a half hour, and when I left they were getting out a different machine for him to use to try and pass the vision test.

#1 - what the fuck good is it to have a vision test if they are working to ensure EVERYONE will pass it? yeah, that's keeping the roads safe... with half-blind 88 year old fucks driving around

#2 - that old bastard is probably going to kill someone if not himself... I can't believe his son would stand there and continue to let him try and get his license when he obviously can't see worth a flying fuck and is going to pilot an out of control 4000lb boat-on-wheels certain to maim or kill someone

these are the old fucks that usually take out motorcyclists....

I have to renew my license by August. I am wondering if they speak English at the DMV anymore.

I was there last week and I was the only American born citizen in line. Everyone had passports out from different countries and birth certificates too. Several of them had translators.

well here in bumfuck Ohio... everyone in line was white... except for a white trash looking mom with an obvious 50/50 in line with her

when I was there Friday, however, there was 1 black guy there.... he was behind me waiting on his new license to print... I went up to the counter and told the lady what I needed and as soon as she turned around he jumped out of his seat and snatched and pocketed a few bags of the "license plate attachment" packages that they sell for 75 cents

Oh no..

I have to say, my last trip to get my license renewed was amazingly painless. I went up front and grabbed a number. I read something on the wall for about 30 seconds and as I sat down I heard "#34". I looked at my card and it was me. It took longer to get my new license printed then it did to do everything else put together. I was in and out in about 10 minutes.

i had to go last December in anticipation of buying my car. Can't register a car in Mass if you still have a RI driver's license. so off I went downtown. it was relatively quick but the first pic came out looking kindof high, the second pic someone walked by me and distracted me so i'm looking to my right, then the third pic was me saying, 'wait one sec'... and no more pics.

so my license pic has me looking sort of high.

ours is always busy, doesn't seem to matter what time you go, the line is the same... about a 20 minute wait to be seen and a few minutes to do whatever you need to get done

all in all, I'd say that getting plates for my out-of-state purchased motorcycle takes about an hour and a half... you start at the DMV, wait in line for 20 to get your out-of-state inspection, takes about 10 or 15 minutes for the old half-blind bitch to try and read the VIN number on the frame of the bike to make sure it isn't stolen, she fails miserably and ends up just looking at the title and copying down the VIN number since she can't see well enough to read it on the bike... then you take the out-of-state inspection across the street to the title dept, wait in line about 10 minutes, and it takes about 5-10 minutes of paperwork to transfer the title, pay your tax, and sign your life away that you didn't lie about the purchase price, which everyone does or should do anyway - then you take your brand spankin new title back across the street and stand in line at the DMV again to get your new registration and plates... 20 minute wait time and about 5 minutes to get your plates... what a waste of time and a huge bureaucracy

You will have to get stoned every time you drive so there won't be any confusion if you are pulled over.

to get my license actually took a whole 20 minutes i think. it's because it's in the middle of the city and most people who are driving would get their licenses out of the city, near their houses. there's no parking nearby the RMV (instead of DMV, no idea why) so most people don't go I assume.

anyway going back to get my registration was quick and painless too. in and out in about 15 minutes with fabulous Red Sox plates!

The DMV and the strip club are the only places in nebraska that do not take credit cards I think. They also have no issue with putting their asshole in your face and taking all your money.

I have to renew mine this month and it is going to be $460 bucks.

Texas has lots of different plate options available...:

standard:

multiple sports teams (example):

multiple colleges (example):

multiple military (example):

multiple organizations (example):

Couple of different antique/classic vehicle ones (example):

Motorcycle Specialty Plates (example)
( )

Texas probably has a good 400 or 500 different plate options, full listing is here:

Specialty License Plates

it's retarded

Ohio has a ton of plates too, I don't think that many, but a bunch. I don't think there are any options for the motorcycle plates though, other than the collector plates for 25 year old bikes or whatever

My grandfather (turned 85 less than a month ago) still has a license ... it scares me, yet he has only had two wrecks in the last 25 years.

my great uncle is 90 and has a license, drives all the time... dude has a glass eye even... how he passes that vision test for peripheral vision on the glass-eye side is beyond my wildest imagination... they must be just giving him his license
