One Reason I would vote for Hillary

Posted on DailyKos:

NOTE: I'm the Clinton campaign's Internet Director

Howard Wolfson, the Clinton campaign's Communications Director, just responded to Bill O'Reilly's request for a comment on Daily Kos and YearlyKos:

HOWARD WOLFSON:

"Blogs are the 21st Century version of the public square. Sen. Clinton does not agree with everything said on Daily Kos, but isolating a few comments as a way to smear a blog frequented by hundreds of thousands of people a day is wrong. Certainly you would understand this when you look at some of the extreme views guests on your show have advocated over the years. Here are just a few examples:

"You've hosted Michael Savage, who has called MLK Jr. Day a "racket" designed to steal ‘white males' birthright.’

"You've hosted David Horowitz, who has called Democrats ‘apologists for terrorists.’

"You've hosted, Ann Coulter who said of the 9/11 widows: ‘I have never seen people enjoying their husbands’ death so much.’

"It wouldn't be reasonable to attribute these views to you and it's not reasonable for you to attribute every comment on Daily Kos to everyone who attends the YearlyKos convention. Sen. Clinton is looking forward to attending YearlyKos."

Thanks

Howard Wolfson

Communications Director, Clinton Campaign
The blogs don't like her, and she's never going to "win them over" in this presidential race...she could have easily made this her "sister souljah" moment by distancing herself from blogs, again as she's already commanding a huge lead with their disdain...and that has to annoy her, would you like a group of people who constantly tear you apart for over a year, while praising other candidates like Edwards?

For those who say "that's just stirring a bees nest, to come out against the blogs" well there's my second point, she could have said nothing

Instead, now she has the worst of both worlds, she has blogs that don't like her, and years of trying to come across as a moderate are further tarnished by "supporting far-left blogs"

She gains nothing out this...except my respect

This is not some cold move by her campaign, its one of reason and compassion to do the RIGHT thing, not the political thing...really if I were advising her, I'd have told her to ignore it, that's the wisest course, next up would be to go against the blogs, come across as more moderate, I'd never advise her to do what she did
