| Computer People. I've become an Acronis fan. I know we have some pretty computer savvy people here. I used to use Ghost for all my Disk Imaging and complete backups. I've used it for probably 8 years or more both for work and at home. A guy I work with said he had played with Acronis a bit and said we should see how it will do for backing up our workstations at the hospitals we service. It worked well with the exception of retrieving an image back from a network share. Sometimes we would be able to see our shares and other times we couldn't and it was very frustrating. So we decided to keep our disk images on one of our ftp servers and use the ftp option to backup and restore. And it's flawless. We can do complete remote backups with the doctors using the workstations and they have no idea we are doing it. It's all done in the background. I just restored a system from an old backup completely remotely. It took less then 5 minutes to do a complete network restore with a drive that had about 12 gig on it (hospital has gig copper). Being able to restore workstations without being on site is such a HUGE deal with us. We have sites all across NC we are responsible for and if there is an issue with a workstation and we can have it completely rebuilt in 5 minutes as opposed to us having to drive an hour to get to the site before we can even start on it we look like friggen heroes. Lesson of the day, if you haven't given Acronos a try. Try it! It works great at home too! | ||||

| Wow, 5 minutes over gig copper? We have gig copper at work, and all buildings are connected back to core via either 1g or 10g fiber, and at my old job it would take us 15 minutes to push an 8 gig image using Ghost Console. If I was involved with imaging anymore, I'd probably give it a try | ||||

Ghost, as good as it was, was never this fast. And the whole Ghostcast server was a pain in the ass. | ||||
