Now, honestly, are you not troubled by the signs of this...not just the superficial, but the deeper meanings

First, we are supporting brutal thugs...basically the exact same people we were so proud we removed...remember all those stories about how Iraqi units were brutally oppressing their people...that was our lasting legacy, that we got rid of them...now we are arming them, on both shia and sunni, how sad is that...cruel irony

Instead of these small cells isolated for anti-US combat, a large chunk of these insurgents are becoming a central force, just sitting on the sidelines waiting for al-Mahdi and Badr militias to battle over who is the dominate militia, so they can step in and sweep up the wreck in a full blown civil war...and we are arming them for it, making both sides more brutal, all so we can write "Summer 2007, we have some signs of success for right this second"

Ofcourse, the rest of the Arab and non-Arab world is watching, and how could they not hate us?

We said, with an intelligence budget 7x every other country combined, that Iraq had WMD...false

We said, with the same intelligence, that Saddam had links to al-Qaeda...false

Finally, our last leg to stand on...Saddam was a thug and the people of Iraq lived in fear, we were going to them peace and democracy

What have we given them? Civil war, Abu Ghraib, massacres at Haditha, convictions of US marines of murder plots, financing a government that had torture chambers in their "Ministry of the Interior", roaming death squads...now to cap it all off, we are giving power to warlords in the form of tribal leaders...in basically every part of Iraq the US has influence, it's turning into a brutal area terrorized by thugs...sound familiar?

We've failed on all our goals in invading Iraq, and the US name has been drug through the mud 100x worse than Vietnam

In for the rosey portrait that is going to be drawn this September...and my grandkids asking me why my countrymen let this happen when the mess was staring us right in the face...I guess the answer is pretty simple "apathy and fear"

In all seriousness, what seems like a stupid idea now was dressed up as a great idea by neo con propagandists after 9/11. And due the the Dixie Chick, Bill Maher, "you're a traitor if you criticize" mentality that still exists today, the voices of reason were silenced.
