| Only McCain&Paul signed up for official GOP youtube/CNN debate But so far, only Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and Rep. Ron Paul (Tex.) have agreed to participate in the debate, co-hosted by Republican Party of Florida in St. Petersburg. "Aside from those two candidates, we haven't heard from anyone else," said Sam Feist of CNN, who's co-sponsoring the debate with the popular videosharing site. But Don't Ask Him on YouTube... | The Trail | washingtonpost.com Wow, now the Dem debate was pretty well screened, and some of the top videos (like, should we impeach?) were rejected...and conservatives I hear say MSNBC is more liberal than CNN...not to mention there aren't any candidate saying CNN is too liberal They are saying "videos of snowman aren't very serious" ib Someone compares Chris Wallace ambushing Clinton, and Fox News history of being right-wing opinion media...to youtube | ||||

| Heh. Do you think some of these candidates really want to be answering questions from the common populace? Props to McCain for signing on. I'm actually all for no one else signing up. Ron Paul could use the face time. | ||||

| i agree with those guys on the videos.... they are wasting a tremendous venue for reaching people. i think they don't realize how big it is and how much they can influence undecided voters. kudos again to McCain and Paul... at least some are on track. | ||||

| YouTube as a whole is fairly liberal. The majority of users are liberal and they put content ratings on a lot of pro-conservative videos to get them pulled. The same as digg. The users constantly bury pro-conservative articles. The YouTube community + CNN + Republican Debate = disaster for the majority of the Republicans who refused to go on the debate. It does however make them hypocrites for criticizing the Democrats for not going on Fox. | ||||

| to say youtube is liberal is to imply that the internet is liberal is to imply reality is basically liberal youtube sent in a lot of hard-hitting, ridiculous questions, that did NOT air, and there were some harding, in my opinion, negative-sum questions that DID air...Democrats did NOT look forward to this debate, it was the one they were the most terrified of...and they went anyway GOP would face the same stuff...liberal trolling questions would be tossed out, but some hard hitting stuff let in The GOP isn't afraid of the debate, so much as they are afraid they can't go "oh it was the LIBERAL MEDIA after us!" Like after the MSNBC debate, when Democrats had a round of ugly quetsions, stupid hand raising, etc etc...they took it on the chin Republicans cried and cried that big bad liberal NBC is out to get them, now if its youtube, they're not going to go "oh well these people are a bunch of liberal freaks!" because they'd be insulting tons of moderates | ||||

| i think you tube is pretty moderate if you are comparing them to other media outlets. as far as the GOP making up excuses, I think it shows a weakness on their behalf. however comparing the "liberal you tubers" to reality in general... that's a bit of a stretch. | ||||

We can sit here and play games all day and degenerate each political groups, but I think the Republican candidates know YouTube isn't exactly a nuetral site for them. Most of the videos of them on YouTube are less than flattering. For example: Rudy - YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. Obama - YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. I think it's apparent why Obama would be willing to do a CNN/YouTube debate and someone like Rudy wouldn't... | ||||

| considering conservatives generally are more likely to be rich white males with easy access to a computer, was does that tell you about the true political makeup of this country? | ||||
