I think it's sad how little time conservatives, neocons and Republicans spend worrying about the quality of Fox News. I mean, they could be spending that time working to ensure that they're getting a fair and accurate and independent perspective on the news, but instead they choose to simply watch it and listen to the Bush Administrations talking points rehashed, and inaccurate, misleading, and overly conservative viewpoints shoved down their ever so eager throats.

Liberals don't control the internet...it's full of conservative websites...libertarian websites...anti-democratic websites...far far right hate websites...etc etc

I've never heard a peep about any sort of "war" with them

Fact is Talk Radio isn't a huge issue to liberals, its just a back burner idea

Fox News is disturbing because it claims to be fair and balanced and is a GOP mouthpiece, and has decided to try and target liberals and get american to hate them...

Now, what do you do if someone tries to get everyone to hate you and won't listen to reason? You tell people what assholes they are

No one is trying to shut down fox news...calm down

I couldn't give a shit about talk radio...they are all opinion shows. Fox News claims to be fair and balanced. Once they drop that slogan, I'll be happy.

They are a right-wing hate machine, and there is absolutely no comparison to what CNN/MSNBC/the big three do.

Fox News pollutes the minds of middle class Americans with complete and utter one-sided garbage. My parents are avid Fox News viewers and I can't tell you how many political discussions I've gotten into with them where they literally quote the likes of O'Rly or Hannity verbatim. The viewpoints that Fox News represents are shallow, biased, and are anything but objective. I guess people like being told what to think by a 'patriotic' neocon news network. I refuse to watch the trash the station airs.

To play Devils Advocate... we should just start dropping all the random slogans.

NYTs: All the news that's fit to print. Yea, all the liberal news...
Wall Street Journal: The Daily Diary of the American Dream... people who read the Wall Street Journal were born rich and didn't earn the American Dream.
NBC: "Where the news comes first"... no it doesn't.
CNN: "The Most Trusted Name in News"... no it's not. By whose standards? Theirs?

etc...

I could say I have a beef with every news outlet's slogan as it's generally an untrue advertisement of their station.

My brother watches MSNBC a lot and his mind is polluted with one-sided garbage as well. I can't have a political discussion without him actually naming Olbermann and reciting what Olbermann has said.

Their motto is a Full Spectrum of News or something like that. I sometimes wonder what spectrum their working off of.

I don't think people should be applying these standards to Fox News if they don't apply it to the others... especially the Soros stations in this instance since it is the Soros organizations doing the attacking.

I could say I have a beef with every news outlet's slogan as it's generally an untrue advertisement of their station.

I've basically never heard Tom Brokaw say "Where the news comes first" Yet the head anchor at Fox News, Brit Hume, says it constantly during his program, and if that weren't enough, he got himself on the sunday panel of pundits where he puts up the most right-wing radical views...seriously approaching Hannity

Now, Brokaw, since has retired, has shown interest in things like Global Warming, but he's not even an activist...and frankly he's not really liberal...he wrote a widely successful "The Greatest Generation" that was pretty conservative, and his record as an anchor is, as far as im concerned, near flawless, he's so completely objective I have no idea how anyone could have found a flaw with him...

How anyone could compare Tom Brokaw's "bias" to Brit Hume's bias is...laughable

Wolf Blitzer is the main anchor at CNN, what dirt you have on him?

Seriously, these stations crush Fox News on credibility so bad, it's not even funny...that people still try to compare the "bias"...its pathetic

It's like someone gets hit with a rubber ducky and the other guy stabs him in the heart, and people come along going "oh well they're both vicious attackers"

MSNBC has Tucker and a former Republican Congressman as the people right before Olbermann, it's hardly comparable to Fox, despite Olbermann's many anti-Bush/Republican comments.

MSNBC has a liberal on for one hour...

Fox News has an hour for Cavuto, an hour for Gibson, an hour for Hannity and his pet, an hour for BillO, ofcourse let's not forget Brit Hume and his all-star panel of raging conservatives

Fox News also has:
-Heartland with John Kasich
-Beltway Boys with extreme conservative Fred Barnes and right-leaning Mort
-Fox and Friends (which did the Obama slam about him being taught radical islamic theology for primary school...and other lies)
-Fox News Watch with 2 raging conservatives, two moderate...slightly right leaning, and one liberal on the entire fox network which BillO tried to get fired
-Four Hour "Cost of Freedom" block EVERYDAY which caps its right-leaning economic viewpoints with "Forbes on Fox" which on cue everyday takes a shot at democrats, anyone slightly left of center (ie half the country, or these days, most of America)

Fox News hosts names not mentioned:
David Asman
Julie Banderas
Steve Doocy
Oliver North (and that godawful "america is flawless, iraq is going great" show he runs)

Not to mention all the right-leaning guest-hosts, or panelists, or frequest guests

Seriously, look at all that, and you come back to me with "well Keith Olberman has one hour on one network"

very very sad

I'm not arguing Fox isn't worse in this aspect. But there's a market for this, just like there's a market for this in the liberal news networks. The difference is in liberal media it's spread across them fairly equally, Fox News has a monopoly on the conservative crap. If Fox is going to be attacked, it's disingenuous to not attack the other players. Fox didn't invent the tricks, they learned from the best...

I just have to disagree, there's no other television news network that comes close to the bias that Fox has. There is an organizational effort on Fox's part to bring a conservative "twist" (and I'm being kind with that word) to the news.

It's just not present on any other network.

Spread out...pah...it took me 2 minutes to make up that list of Fox, and it's overwhelming, you find me a list of current CNN/NBC/CBS/ABC news that is so overwhelming liberal...you have your one guy with Keith, but even on MSNBC he is followed up by Joe Scaborough, Clinton-impeachment-voting conservative

Why should anybody worry about the quality of a news station? It's a private business...there is no need for anybody but the consumers to worry about it. If the consumers like it, the business will continue doing what it's doing. If the consumers don't like it, the business will fail.

If Fox News was really as bogus as you claim, then certainly consumers wouldn't fall for it...look at Air America for example.

What's hilarious is that you expect people, er, politicians/the government to control them. State-controlled media FTMFL.

Ah yes, they saw a need in the market and they filled it. It just happened to be a need taht is more popular that the need that the other stations fill...that of liberal bias.

to the free market!

You realize if everyone person who wanted right-winger Pat Robertson to be president in 1988, turned into Fox News, the ratings would rival the superbowl?

Fox News is where determined Republican voters go to get their news, while the rest of the country spreads out over ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC

There is a reason little known Keith Olberman has beaten BillO in the 24-54 demo
mediabistro.com: TVNewser

It has nothing to do with Keith getting a lot of viewers, I'm progressive and I don't even watch him, its simple: Fox News gets TONS of viewers that are 60+, infact many 70+

This is not a crowd of all americans, black, white, hispanic, male and female, from all ages, coming to the "real" news...its very old white male republicans

If you removed the elderly republicans from Fox News, it shrinks down incredibly, even MSNBC rivals it, and they're doing horrible

Even with the beefed up numbers, the other networks overall trounce Fox News again and again, people have known for years if you want right-wing favorable news, you go to fox, yet the audience has stayed the same or dropped off...still the American people overwhelmingly prefer to go to ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN for their news
