FiOS just became availabe in my area. I am thinking about switching because I don't really like Comcast, they charge too much and I don't get enough for it. Does anyone on here have any experience with FiOS? Is it worth it?...

| I havent had any experience with FiOS, I'm pretty sure it just started becoming available in Dallas as well, but I know that Time Warner Cable (which bought out Comcast in the D/FW market) is pretty shitty. I'd love to change to something else if I could. | ||||

| Depending on where you are in NJ Comcast/OptOnline is pretty fast. Cable is only like $40 a month out here and it's 15MB down. $40 Fios gets you 5MB down. I know people in NJ who switched to Fios and said it was slower. They also have to do a much more involved install than just handing you a modem. I haven't heard of anyone with the faster FIOS setups, but Optimum offers "Boost" out here for $10 a month that gives you a 30MB down connection. Depending on where you are that's a pretty good deal. That's a $180 month for FIOS, and with FIOS you have to make a yearly commitment. I'm not sure how much faster the 15MB connections are from FIOS, but NJ is at a distinct advantage of having some of the fastest cable internet in the nation. | ||||

From what I could see on thier website, I could get thier TV and internet package for like 85 a month and with Comcast it's closer to 100 a month.

| Comcast is really fast and their On-Demand product is pretty damn good, but I agree they charge too much. I've been hoping a decent alternative would pop up, but all we got around here (that I know about) is direct TV, and I don't think their product is as good as Comcast, and they don't offer suitable internet. | ||||
