That's pork. And yes Stevens is big on pork, which is the major reason why I dislike him. I also think he's getting too old and out of touch, well that and the whole contractor on his house thing.

I don't like Stevens. I'm not a fan of him at all. I agree he's a pork spending douche who has no business in the Senate. But in comparison to Jefferson (both of whom haven't been convicted.. YET), there's really no contest on the evidence of corruption. Not that two wrongs make a right. They're both morons and should probably be in jail. Also Jefferson was caught with a lot more than 100 grand and his pay-offs were for important military contracts, not improvements on his home.

I mean if the pork and pet projects bother you, I think Murtha topped the most pork projects in the recent bill at $150 million. Some of which he can't even prove is going to an actual organization/company/cause. And even after being shown they don't exist, he leaves the pork in the bill anyway. Pork and earmarks are a HUGE issue, but doesn't necessarily make someone corrupt. We need stronger accountability on earmarks and pork to help alleviate this problem. But for some reason the ethics bill decided to take away accountability on earmarks...
