FBI and IRS agents are searching the home of U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, the FBI tells CNN

Breaking news on cnn...

i knew this was eventually going to happen... his son's offices were raided a few months ago... this is terrible news for the republicans

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Agents from the FBI and Internal Revenue Service on Monday searched the home of U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, an official said.
Investigators arrived at the Republican senator's home in Girdwood shortly before 2:30 p.m. Alaska time, said Dave Heller, FBI assistant special agent.
Heller said he could not comment on the nature of the investigation.
The Justice Department has been looking into the seven-term senator's relationship with a wealthy contractor as part of a public corruption investigation.

Not only that, but the other GOP Senator...Milkulski (sp?) and the at-large Rep, all federal GOPers are under investigation for a massive scam

Unfortunately, Alaska is so deserted there are only 2 real democrats I can see having a chance in a presidential year...the mayor of anchorage, and constant loser (except his one stint at governor) Knowles

BREAKING

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- Agents from the FBI and Internal Revenue Service on Monday searched the home of U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, an official said.

Investigators arrived at the Republican senator's home in Girdwood shortly before 2:30 p.m. Alaska time, said Dave Heller, FBI assistant special agent.

Heller said he could not comment on the nature of the investigation, but did mention finding a secret room behind a bookcase in the Senator's private office filled to the brim with a series of tubes, apparently leading to the internets.

The Justice Department has been looking into the seven-term senator's relationship with the tubes, following a comment months ago by the Senator which brought him public ridicule.

Heller said it was unclear as of yet what this hidden series of tubes would mean for the investigation.

Its funny how the neo-cons selectively ignores news like this - because it proves yet again that anytime a political party gains majority power corruption is the result - this implies that the neo-cons hold on the war on terror can also be corrupt thus wrong, but they can't see that, as obvious as it is.

I have not liked this guy forever. He is one of the many that give politicians a bad name (bridge to nowhere comes right to mind). I wonder if they found stacks of cash in his freezer too.

The democratic party ran against Jefferson, I don't know what else you want them to do? Start taking ballots and throwing them into the Mississippi?

He's just trying to remind us all about the real threat of corruption, the democrats.

Stevens, Foley and DeLay are nothing compared to Jefferson. Everyone ignore the fact that the R's in question were darlings of the GOP while Jefferson has no support from the Dems.

Excellent observation...you forgot about Pumbo, Doolittle, Sherwood, Ney, and now Renzi, Young, etc

The GOP has so many corrupt members or members who were defeated in 06 (or will be in 08) over their corruption...what does the GOP have...Jefferson, who the democratic party got a strong primary challenger and helped her to try and win...while the GOP all got behind these corrupt members and tried to get them re-elected, except Foley which they tried to keep from retiring, despite what the GOP leader at the time might have heard
