| More Problems in the House There was a bill voted on last night for agricultural legislations. The Republicans motioned to recommit the bill to committee on the basis that they wanted to remove benefits to illegal aliens. The people who wanted to vote had voted and the presiding chair, Hoyer, gaveled the vote closed... thus ending the vote. The Democrats didn't realize they had lost. They started shouting to CHANGE the outcome of the vote. The Republicans started shouting for an adjournment and were told THEY were out of order. They waited around for 5 minutes while Hoyer decided how to screw them and many walked out in protest. At this point they decided to REOPEN! the vote so the Democrats who hadn't voted could get their votes in and essentially win the vote. This is just ridiculous. It's such a kangaroo court right now. I hope you all enjoy paying taxes towards illegal alien healthcare because the Democrats are cheating the system to ensure it stays in their bill. | If this is intended on attacking democrats and their legislation to provide illegal immigrants health care, so be it. But lets also keep in mind that a good 50% of "conservative" republicans, including the president, would be ok with such measures. I would estimate that 75% of our government is on the wrong track on this issue and is not representing the way a good 75% of our country feels about illegal immigration. Illegal immigration legislation is a bipartisan problem. A partisan attack on democrats is only half accurate as the other party is just as guilty with their amnesty plans. Hell, Ronald Jesus Reagan himself, the conservative supreme being passed a bill called "amnesty" in 1986 for 3.5 million illegal immigrants. | ||||

This behavior in Congress is not new. It's not sole domain of Democrats in this particular Congress...and I sure as hell don't see many posts by certain users bashing the Republicans in such a fashion.

| So the Democrats just made sure that everyone's vote was counted. I fail to see how this is a problem. | ||||

![]() The voting was closed in accordance with House rules with no complaints because the Democrats didn't realize they didn't have the votes in to carry it. There is really no legitimate reason to reopen voting, it isn't as if the Republicans illegally closed the voting.

I agree everyone who wanted to vote should have gotten a chance to vote. And they did! Many politicians purposely don't vote on certain bills. If you choose not to vote, then that's on you. If you choose not to vote and the bill doesn't pass, you don't get a "redo" and cast in a late vote. There's no do-overs, no take-backs, no crossed fingers, no undo button etc. That would be anarchy. | You know... we should probably just scrap this whole government. Seriously. Get rid of every single person. Make it a law that every 30 years we flush out the entire government and elect people who have never served in politics. Granted they will need to be qualified people... but screw them all who are there now. Its disgusting.

| I don't have a problem with allowing everyone to vote. If they somehow denied some representatives the ability to vote then I woudl be mad, but all they did was allow everyone to vote. Good. | ||||
