News is supposed to check their sources, and, oh I don't know, maybe find more than one opinion (especially if that opinion comes from a gov't official... get a scientific opinion).

Even the basic premise/assertion is wrong, as any plant with 24 hours of light cannot produce flowers (cannabis buds) it would just grow towards the sun but not go into a state of producing buds. Since it's tricked into perpetual daylight with no seasons (simulated Spring/Fall to start flowering).

With 24 hours of daylight biologically a plant of this nature will produce no flowers as the 1 single 24 hour day never ends.

right, i remembered there was something about a plant needing night time as well as day time in order to function properly.

Once a plant filps to the flowering stage, (typically by spending a week or so with 12 hours of darkness per day), it will not flip back to the non-flowering, (vegatative growth) stage no matter what you do..

As such some indoor cannabis growers do boost the light hours back up, ..., usually just for the last week or two before harvest but only very few take it all the way up to 24 hours, (not least coz the resulting heat problems are hard to accomodate). They do this in the belief that extra weight is put on, ..., I've yet to be convinced.

Going straight back up to pre-flipping light levels does slow/stunt/hinder bud formation but wont stop it.

I know of grow rooms being booby trapped with electricity.

The main danger from grow rooms is fire as some of the idiots involved have a very cavilier attitude towards DIY projects involving water & electricity.

There have been several fires reported on TV in Birmingham over the last few years in grow rooms seemingly caused by amateurish wiring

I'd dispute the 'x times' stronger than that grown outside claim too. It depends what, where & when IMO, ..., its not a simple comparison based on either just the strain nor just the growing conditions.

The objection should be more on the basis of the unnessecary use of large amounts of elecricity & all that that entails.

Either way neither Fox News nor the DEA PR dept have ever been seen as as authoritive sources for anything much really & as such the clips 'gloss' isnt surprising.
