I recently made some .flac files for lossless encoding and they sound really good. It's a shame they're so big and MP3 players won't play them

Doubt it.

iTunes is great. I moved from winamp not all that long ago and have no intention of ever going back, it just doesn't do things as nicely as iTunes.

I can access mine just like I can any other HD I plug into my computer.

When I had to format, I simply pulled the mp3's off of the ipod into a folder and it worked fine
