The legislation would shift money to high-risk states and cities, expand screening of air and sea cargo and put money into a new program to ensure that security officials at every level can communicate with each other.

I feel a lot safer now knowing some of these plans are going into action, and that the Democratic Congress has really gotten over many of the GOP's dirty tricks and in some cases the enormous amount of filibusters

Very good job by the Democrats here. My only caveat and it's a minor one would be that it would have been nice if they spent LESS money on this. However, the fact that they shifted money and didn't add a new tax or devote more money is a HUGE plus. From the little I know of this bill I have to say, hands down to the Democrats and Pelosi, good job!

So does this Democratic bill end the corruption and pork of taking money away from NYC terrorism funds to build the ~$2 million ice skating rink in the middle of bumfuck-nowhere St. Louis with Homeland Security anti-terror funds?

No last week the Democrats made that easier to do and with little to no means of accountability. But that would be asking too much from a Homeland Security bill. On that note, I wonder if Murtha can manage to pack another $150 million of pork into this bill.

I was wondering how much money Pelosi gave herself considering her city district and how much of that money would actually go towards increased Homeland Security. But overall what the districts do with the money isn't so much the fault of the bill.
