Is 99% a scientific estimate that comes from some reputable source? Because if you want to whittle it down to what percentage is him, and what percentage is the roids, you've already lost by admitting that the victory isn't entirely his, which is my point.

And if a certain percentage of a victory belonging to unnatural performance enhancers is acceptable, then the line can always be blurred further.. which is bad for any competitive sport.

He wouldn't be where he is today with the records without the roids.

People can defend him and say he's a good athlete, that he was good before, that he might have become this or that even without them.. but he certainly wouldn't be where he is.. and that's really all I'm saying.

The saddest part is that Bonds never needed it, that in surpassing the most hallowed record in baseball he tarnished his reputation to the point his apologists have to remind people that he was Hall-of-Fame-worthy long before baseball's "Steroid Era" began.
Bonds should be hitting his, say, 650th clean homer about now, continuing to build the case that he is the greatest ballplayer of all time. That is how great he was, and is. He never needed the juice. His legacy would have been so much greater, meant so much more without it.

i'm not reading through this whole thread.

was the commish present for it? i'm so out of it on news. all i know is when I left the sox were 8 up and I come back and they're only 4 up.
