| Punishment for two arrested in Newark executions 2 arrested in N.J. schoolyard deaths - Yahoo! News If you haven't heard, allow me to summarize what took place earlier in the week in NJ. A group of four between the ages of 18 and 20 were hanging out an elementary school playground in Newark, NJ. They were all found up against a brick wall shot in the head. It appears they were made to kneel and killed execution style in a murder/robbery. One girl has survived and is in critical condition. She has been assisting the police in finding their attackers. So far it seems they did not know their attackers. The police took evidence, fingerprints and text messages from the phones to draw a story of what happened. Apparently the four attempted to help each other get out alive through text messaging. One of the people arrested was linked back to fingerprints on a soda bottle at the scene. He had been arrested numerous times in the past and was awaiting trial for another crime. He is only fifteen years old. The police got a hunch as to who the second person was and they were actively looking for him. He turned himself in today. He is twenty-eight years old. Ballistics appear to tie his gun to the scene. That's the background of what happened. I don't know if they have named the shooter just yet. But based on this information and assumed they are both found guilty, what do you think their punishment should be? One is 15 and the other is 28. What punishment should the minor receive in comparison to the adult? As far as I'm concerned the adult should be looking at capital punishment depending on any previous convictions. If he has a mostly clean record I think he should get at the very least 4 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. Anything less than that would be an injustice in my opinion. But now the teenager. He is 15 years old and already has a rap sheet. Now he has been placed at the scene of a 3 murders in the first degree, an attempted murder and a robbery. Obviously it's hard to make an opinion without knowing his involvement, but assume they both share equal responsibility for the sake of this debate. What should his punishment be? I would say no less than 40 years. 10 years for each victim. He's responsible for the loss of three lives and this poor girl was shot in the head, who knows what her quality of life will be if she survives. By the time he gets out of prison (if he gets out) he should be an old man. Also as a closing question do you think you could look at the parents of the victims in the face and say that your opinion of their punishment constitutes "justice"? I think I could.

| And leave it to the justice system to let violent criminals out of jail, yet we have no space in jail because of the overflowing number of drug related "criminals" I'd rather the pot heads be running free than the ones that rob, steal, and murder | ||||

| I don't really believe in the death penalty. Life in prison with no chance of parole for the adult. no question. The kid... i'm not so sure. 15 is pretty young and easily influenced by an older adult if the kid happened to look up to him. I don't really know what to do in a situation like that. There is no good solution. | ||||

| Here's an update. The man who surrendered himself to police was ID'd by the surviving victim. He is an illegal alien using a false social security number. He has a history of being charged in a 31 indictment case involving the raping a 5 year old girl and threatening of her family. He has been arrested for a assault regarding a bar fight. Immigration has known he was in in the country illegally since his prior to arrests and did nothing. | I think the only pro-life person in this thread is Ballz, and he hasn't called for the death penalty. Regardless, there is a difference between killing an innocent life and killing a murderer. | ||||

| I am pretty sure that everyone within US controlled territory is subject to our laws. Citizen or not. If you kill someone here, you go to jail. Same thing applies in all other countries. If I go to Korea and steal something, my ass is getting caned. | ||||
