desperate for puter help

yo,

running in v** mode, which is even worse than safe mode as far as resolution is concerned.

i've been using my trusty dusty dell 4600 for 3 years now relatively problem free. i returned home the other evening to find the screen flickering, and have noticed that it happens whenever i move my mouse, click on anything on/offline, and now whenever any movement happens on screen. have recieved multiple blue screen stop errors that i no absolutely nothing about.

BAD_POOL_CALL
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
nv4_disp running in infinite loop

spoke with dell tech support. first time agent said that problem was definately the result of my having only 15 of 80gb available on hard drive. deleted files to have now half available and still experiencing problems. second agent said i should re-install operating system (XP) and will do so when disk arrives (in a week! )

wtf? how does a puter simply 'develop' these problems? i haven't checked my email in over a month cause of non-related problems i've been having with road runner, so i'm thinking it can't be viral. i only download films from private trackers and am never the first to have them; as far as i know nothing was awry with any of those. the only other online activity i enjoy is speaking with you bastards/bitches and reading 'general info' online.

i've looked online for fixes, but to be honest this kind of programming is beyond my level of knowledge - the language used is too technical for me, and my internets connection is, at best, precarious, even in this ultra safe mode.

i've booted into last known good, did a system restore, checked device for video driver problems, let monitor do self test, clean booted (whatever that is, dell tech did that remotely)

any sincere help would be appreciated.

cheers.

Try this
http://www.synapse.gr/downloads/nv4loopfix.zip

You can also try uninstall your nvidia drivers for now to see if that helps you into a normal windows mode.

Dell said because you had 15gb left out of 80 that was the problem? they should rott in hell for that.

This sounds like a driver problem or perhaps the Kernel has become corrupt and no longer knows how ot properly interact with your hardware. This would require a reinstall of the OS and you should have some dell image discs for that.

First and foremost I'd try the driver. If you boot into safe mode does the system function? Another option would be to go to the device manager and completely remove your nvidia video device and reboot the machine and see if the OS autodetects which it should. It might not have the proper driver built into the OS list of drivers but it should at least find a default driver allowing you to jump online for the update.

BTW I wouldn't recommend using system restore. If you ever get a virus it will infect the restore and make it difficult to move, not to mention its a ridiculous waste of hard drive space.

Just keep your PC running smooth and you wont have to ever use it. It doesn't work 50% of the time anyways.

freakin word. i've had the entire space occupied less a few 100 mb's and was still running well.

thanks for link. will check out in morning.

and cheers for the word on system restore, 69. i'll undo that, as it did nothing for me anyway. unfortunately, i've misplaced the OS disk, have all others excpet that one. if what you've both recommended doesn't work i'll wait for the mail to arrive.

thanks again.
