mGiuliani Vows to Stop Illegal Immigrants

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani vowed Tuesday to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the United States by closely tracking visitors to the country and beefing up border security.

"We can end illegal immigration. I promise you, we can end illegal immigration," the former New York mayor said at a community center - the first of the day's two stops in this early voting state.

Giuliani said he would require a uniform identification card for foreign workers and students and create a central database to track the legal status of visitors to the country. He told the crowd of more than 300 that 12 million immigrants have entered the country illegally.

"That's a lot of people to walk over your border without being identified," he said.

Giuliani wants a tamperproof ID card that includes fingerprinting for everyone entering the country and a central database to track when they leave. The ID card and other immigration proposals have been part of Giuliani's campaign speeches for several months. He says he would allow a pathway to citizenship only for illegal immigrants who identify themselves as illegal, who learn English and who go to the back of the line to apply.

Not a bad start. While I am not to sure about ID card solutions I am glad to see a commitment not to push people in front of our legal immigration process as a reward for lawbreaking. What say you other candidates?

Because running a city is just like running the country? There's a large difference and a difference that he has expounded upon NUMEROUS times yet many people turn a blind eye to it. He's explained himself on this time and again and has done a good job.

He hasn't expounded upon it at all. He is for illegal immigrants.

It's is simply politically smart for him to embrace stopping illegal immigration now because the vast majority of the base he wants to win the votes from is for that.

He's the absolute worst candidate in the entire race, on both sides.

Its a very good/easy political tool to say you are for stopping illegal immigration. The hard part is what to do with the 12-14 million people who are already here. Do you give them amnesty, or do you send them home? That is the issue where Rudy will have a disconnect with the conservative base.

You mean to say he was not a Federal Employee and thus not responsible for Illegal Immigration?

That is what the California Courts ruled after prop 87.

Not that he should have been so happy to welcome them, but he is now looking at a much bigger picture and responsibility.

Now compare Rudy to what Obama said before the National Council of La Raza (The Race) as a Presidential Candidate:

"I will never walk away from 12 Million undocumented immigrants."

He can't even say illegals. He makes it sound like they lost paperwork!

According to the Wall Street Journal he compared last years immigration rallies to the Civil Rights movement! And then shared his very generous entitlement views, all just ready and waiting for our new fast track citizens.

Rudy is a joke and a flip flopper. The only thing he has learned is to follow the public opinion polls and to have no real conviction. His own family hates him. He is a despicable person and I truly dislike him.
