What it shows is that people interested in politics, are coming in support of Paul in these states. That's a good thing, nor is stating the results intended to negate and straw man argument.

One county and "west alabama"?

I think one should differentiate widely publicized straw polls like Ames...where anyone in Iowa with 35 bucks can go...and some noname county poll that I am sure got almost zero advertising

Not just "anyone in Iowa with 35 bucks," but "anyone in Iowa with 35 bucks and the willingness to drive the distance."

All straw polls are retarded. Let's not nit-pick on one for not having as many votes as the other or not covering as much area when there's just as much wrong with any of them.

But hey, they tell people who they should vote for!

So, come caucus and primary time, all the libertarians will show up?

I'm confused, I come here, people are celebrating straw polls, now they are saying straw polls don't mean anything...ok

So what's going to happen this January?

That's why during REAL votes there is a local place setup so people don't have to go out of their way so much to vote.

I'm not saying RP will win, but I'm not saying he won't (like some people are). The only thing straw polls do is make undecided voters dumber (and they're already pretty dumb) because then they'll base part (or all) of their decision on who they think has a chance instead of researching positions and voting for who they actually agree with.

I'm just waiting for some of these posts on 300-person samplings to turn into announcements on how large the people-on-the-ground size of RP's campaign has gotten

Guiliani has a huge campaign staff and is set to launch a massive GOTV effort that will dwarf everyone except Romney in NH

Why doesn't Ron Paul have the biggest number of feet on the ground in libertarian-leaning NH? Most of these positions are non-paying

Well said.

These staw polls are great for the media and bring attention to the little States when the vast majority of voters have obviously not made up their minds. Many don't really care about 2008 politics at the moment. Even the larger polls may reflect more about who people like than who they will actually vote for in their primary when the time comes. Watch out for those people!
