| Midweek Politics 08.23.2006 - Deval Patrick, gay marriage, 2006 & 2008 elections This Week on Midweek Politics with David Pakman Produced by: David Pakman, WXOJ, Northampton, MA Louis Motamedi, WXOJ, Northampton, MA Total Running Time: 58:28 This Week's Topics: --Deval Patrick, Democratic candidate for Massachusetts governor in 2006 joins us from his campaign headquarters. --Andrew Varnon from the Valley Advocate sits in on the show. --What is so pro-family about being anti-gay-marriage? Also, why do the states with the most same-sex couples have the least divorces? --George W. Bush says, in plain English, that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the events of 9/11. --Rush Limbaugh believes we should question the patriotism of those who questions George W. Bush. --Citing no one, Joe Scarborough claims that "[s]ome Democrats" have suggested British terror plot "was just some ploy by the Republicans ... to justify their actions in the war on terror." --Pat Buchanan on his new anti-Mexican, pro-white book tour...and for some reason, he's all of a sudden defending Jews, which is a marked change from the past, but why? --Tucker Carlson claims that Hillary Clinton "bulldozes everybody" because there are "so few men" in the Democratic party. --We discuss the 2006 and 2008 elections, including who we already know can and can't win, whether John Kerry and Al Gore should run again, and more. Note: We apologize for somewhat distorted audio this week. We are working to fix the problem in time for next week's show. | Patrick was a pretty good interview, he's very quick on his feet. I also did record the Perez Hilton interview today, but we are saving it for another show. Honestly, it wasn't that great... | ||||

| Highest divorce rates = red states Lowest divorce rates = blue states That's an interesting statistic, especially when you combine what you said about the states with the most same sex couples are blue states. | ||||

| So true about them trying to use the one divorce from MA as some sort of proof that gay marriage can't work.. when the majority of marriages end in divorce and failure. | ||||

| Rush wants to link disagreement with a lack of patriotism. And that guy is completely right. When you have to resort to things like that, it's because you have no argument to refute the other position. | ||||

| I agree with this guys assessment of Buchannan though. Immigration is a convenient issue to help make him relevant again. | ||||

| This Deval guy seems pretty straight forward guy, I like what he's talking about. He's saying what I think a lot of people are thinking, they might have some decent ideas, but they can't execute them very well. | ||||

| You make an excellent point. They're choosing someone else. Lieberman doesn't have some right to be re-elected. | ||||
