| The Specter of Terrorism? Not withstanding the terrific capture in Germany of suspected terrorists, do we know what we are really fighting? Terrorism is but a specter that hides the root causes of the hate against us. The exact cause of it can be debated so long as it is beyond the silly superficial flub of "they hate for our freedoms" - what if we were attacked by a group affiliated with Hamas? Would that be terrorism in the sense of them hating our freedoms? No, they might attack us for what THEY precieve as unfair backing of Israel or unfair punishment of Palestine. Clearly then terrorism is multi deminsional and generalizing it under one name and trying to use one solution is inferior and is destined to lose - it may make a good slogan, but keeping us safe it does not. AQ needs to be punished and taken out, but they are separate from other Sunni, Shia and Kurds in Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and other places, so the solution we have for AQ should not of been applied to these other regions since their problems are different. If we attempt to apply the same solution to a heterogeneous problem it could (and some could argue has) make these once fractured and isolated pockets, unite into a common hatred of us. Remember its about what THEY think, not what we think. This specter of terrorism is making tread water in this "war" NOT liberals, or Americans lack of patience - it's the wrong approach to a complex problem
