NFL Fans - Pats vs Jets - Pats Spying????

So it seems the Pats may have cheated during the game with the Jets by using a camera to steal signals being called in to the Jets defense. Story is here:

The NFL confiscated the camera and this is the 2nd time this has happened. It happened in Green Bay last year and the same camera man that is being accused of spying this year was escorted out of the park by Green Bay security. It seems other NFL teams thought the Pats may be doing this and warned each other and Green Bay caught them.

Now, if this ends up being true and the NFL finds the Pats did cheat they said the team could be fined or lose future draft picks. That seems like a stupid punishment to me. If they cheat in a game why not hit them where it really hurts and give the win to the Jets? Make the game a forfeit by cheating.

I dunno. To me it's more of a technicality. Opposing teams do alot of things to make sure that thier signals are not picked up, but if you do happen to pick up a signal, nothing prevents you from capitalizing on it. So it's not the act of trying to catch signals that is the problem, it's just that they recorded them I suppose to analyze them later and use them some other time.
So it's just that they used maybe an unfair, illegal, advantage in doing something that they are allowed to try and do. That's why I don't think the penalty should be quite that serious, but they should be penalized for breaking the rules. There are probably thousands of cameras on the game at any one second, what's to stop a team from using any of that other footage and do the same exact thing?

That's the thing. The teams are not allowed to use their own cameras to video tape. They can take still pictures, but not video. They are allowed to use network feeds and such.

So them breaking out their own video camera, when it's against the rules, is a HUGE violation. Not just an accident.

I agree that it's a violation, but I don't think that it is huge. It seems more like a technical thing to me.

All this does it tarnish their wins...as has already been mentioned, they can easily beat the Jets without this bullshit.

but still with all the drunk football dudes, so i could be dressed up like an Eskimo (much like I am when winter hits) and i'd still get hit on as if i was dressed like a bavarian girl! (which actually was my halloween costume last year!)

That is a good editorial. Wow, he made a point saying maybe Belichick needs to be suspended because nothing happens on the team without him knowing it.

The NFL did find they were cheating. I am interested in what they do about it.
