A student asks Kerry a question and gets tasered

this is crazy. I can't believe they actually tasered this kid, and you hear Kerry trying to answer the question in the background while the kid is screaming...

YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I'd still like to know what answer Kerry gives though......

In the story I read, linked in Drudge, he gave the correct answer. There was no evidence of any voter fraud on the Republican side. Therefore no reason for an investigation which would have, most likely, found more Democratic voter fraud then Republican.

As far as tazering. I can't see the video. The story says he rushed the mike and started screaming questions. He was asked to step back, he didn't. He was asked to leave by the police, he didn't. He was grabbed by the police and he started flailing his arms around and resisting. That was when he was tazered. Oh well.

When I see video like this it makes me want to go anarchy sometimes. The kid was asking a question. Yes he was being loud and obnoxious and wouldn't step down when asked but seriously the scene they made with the tazer and all was 10 times more disruptive then this kid.

This video reminds me of this other off topic video. This one is so much more funny. The police used excessive force to handle the situation.

The dude was NOT just asking a question. He was disrupting the whole event with his rant. The police asked him to leave...he refused. They tried to escort him out...he resisted. He got what he deserved. On top of that, where is this so called "taser"? OW OW OW OW is NOT a response to a taser.

for once i agree with you.

As far as I can tell, it was a Q&A session. Kerry interrupted him more than once asking him what his question was; he refused to ask a question but instead continued ranting. He broke the rules of the session, police gave him more than one opportunity to stop. He refused, he was forcibly removed. End of story.

You can clearly hear the clicking of the taser in the last 30 seconds of the video. I'm not sure how I feel about this. The kid was overly enthusiastic and was going out of his way to make his point, but even Kerry was saying "That's ok, let me answer his question" when the police began detaining him.

he said he wanted to give people a background and asked a valid question. he wasn't ranting, he sounded like he was a kerry supporter and wanted to know why kerry conceeded the election so early when there were doubts as to Bush's clear victory... he started talking louder because cops came over and people were shouting. i'd do the same thing, but it was a valid question and kerry answered it, after the kid was tazered away...

but it's ridiculous. it's not like he was calling kerry names or even making fun of him. it's a serious question from a kerry supporter straight to the man himself.

Agree. Instead they cause 10 times the disruption by tasering the guy in the back of the room. The two cops standing behind him were big guys too. I think this all points to a bigger problem in the USA. It is becoming harder to express your point of view vocally in public without being arrested. You can see examples everywhere, most notable is wherever Bush goes there is always the heckler who gets taken down and arrested. Even the peaceful folks outside protesting sometimes get arrested. Freedom of speech is looking more like freedom of speech only if your quiet about it.

What a lot of bullshit, definitely excessive force IMO.. there was no reason to taser him.. just more of the same with arrogant cops believing they're above everyone else. I hope the kid presses charges for excessive force and these guys are fired

Kerry said he was going to answer his question, the cops should have backed the fuck off and allowed the guy to listen to his answer instead of stifling discussion and causing an even bigger disruption.. I also disagree with the characterization of 'ranting'

I agree with Roonie, it's becoming more and more difficult for there to be real discussion and debate with elected representatives.. from "town hall meetings" that deny entry to people with different points of view, to veterans being asked to leave for voicing opinions or asking questions that don't mesh with the speakers point of view, to shit like this.

The kid was definately causing a disruption but once under control there was NO, I mean ZERO reason to use the taser. Clearly excessive force by law enforcement in my book. These guys need furhter training or need to lose hteir jobs.
