I hike in the wilderness all the time and there is no way I would taze a bear. Not because I am afraid of hurting it but more so that it may piss him off more than ever and I would be screwed. The batteries will last only so long on a continous taze that sooner or later the bear will come after you. Tazing it is only temporary and a good way to get mauled. Same reason a lot of folks don't carry bear spray as a lot of them have said it just pisses them off more. One guide I talked to said he sprayed it on the beach they were fishing at to keep bears away and a bear came up and rolled in the spray like it was nothing.

Name other reasons a tazer on an animal is a good idea? Wild animals is a bad idea. limited tazing time.

internetz, serious bidness.
Would it be just as amusing if it were someone doing it to your rat terrier?

I mean, honestly, seems like people think it's funny because they don't have sympathy for the bull.. it would be a different story if it was a different type of animal, or one they cared about.

I'd taze my cat with that thing, but it'd probably kill her.

Of course, giving a counter example doesn't mean it's a pointless piece of equipment, but sure, I'll play that game.

In rodeo's they have clowns that are meant to distract the bull so the rider doesn't get hurt, but sometimes that ends up making the clown get hurt. Tazing the bull if control is lost could be used as a last resort to give both clown and rider a chance to get out of the arena.

Large livestock farmers are often put in situations in which they can be hurt by an animal, be it a horse, mule, cow, etc... A taser like this could be the difference between getting hurt (or worse) and getting away.

I'm not a farmer, hiker, slaughterhouse worker, or anything like that, but if I can come up with a few situations like that where people MIGHT want to use a device like that, then it's silly to whine about its creation.

Everyone looks for some bullshit reason to step on a soapbox.

if it were a taser designed for a dog like mine, and it was either a test of the device that I agreed to or a situation in which my dog was endangering someone, I'd absolutely be okay with it. And depending on how her body reacts to it, it could be very amusing.

I think the "uh huh"/"uh uh" argument this thread has devolved into is entertaining though.

How do we feel about shock collars for invisible fencing systems, or as a method of controlling the dogs barking?

Personally I consider it the same thing as 'tazing' them.

Lol....... good point however I have put one on me to test it and although they can be uncomfortable they don't paralyze you and make you rigid and fall over as your body is in seizure. It feels more like getting shocked from an outlet but not that bad. No where near the same league as a tazing gun.

That taser also wasn't meant for small animals. It'd probably kill even a big dog.
