| Lieberman goes back on his word, hurts Democrats again [After Lamont's victory] Lieberman said that he will continue to support the Democrats running for Congress even though they now support Lamont. "It is a little bit harder, but I have endorsed the three of them," he said. Lieberman endorsed Joe Courtney over Rep. Rob Simmons, R-2, and Chris Murphy over Rep. Nancy Johnson, R-5. The Connecticut Post Online - Farrell: Lamont victory due to position on Iraq war [After poll numbers show a close race] [Lieberman] was asked whether he still endorses Diane Farrell, Joe Courtney and Chris Murphy, three Democrats looking to unseat endangered Republican incumbents Chris Shays, Rob Simmons and Nancy Johnson. “I’m a non-combatant,” Lieberman declared. “I am not going to be involved in other campaigns. I think it’s better if I just focus on my own race.” New Haven Independent: "Non-Combatant" Lieberman Won't Back Democratic Candidates What a worthless worthless man, talk about having no honor | ||||

| Why shouldn't it piss them off? Look at how the GOP treated someone like Spectre because he dared do something the WH didn't like.. at least in this case, Lieberman is on the verge of causing massive problems for the Democratic party this fall because of his selfishness and self centered bullshit. | ||||

| I didn't know running for office based on your ideals was self-centered and selfish? I think we should encourage everyone to run for office who is willing. Let the people decide who they want to elect. Same went for Nader. Let him run. Libertarians, let em run. Trying to hold people back because they hurt a party is a bit extreme. I think this is what Stylerod means when he says he thinks it's funny he pisses people off so much. Lieberman really isn't running a smear campaign here. He's just running for office. Let the people decide. Getting pissed off at Lieberman for hurting the Dems is a bit idealistic. The people are voting for him. And many people support him and his views. There's nothing wrong with him running a platform. | ||||

In any case the Democrats will have a liberal in office of CT. The Democrat in power will be the one who best fits the ideals of the state. That is how it's supposed to work. Getting pissy because Lieberman annoys Democrats should be irrelevent here. He has a right to run and in my opinion he should run as should anyone else who wants the position.

Bottom line is that this race could have bad consequences all around the nation. If Joe really stood what he says he stands for, and cared about moving the country forward like he said he does, he'd accept the fact that it's time to move on and allow someone new to take his place in the fight for CT. Instead, he cares about his own power, his own position, and his own ego.

Unfortunately, HIM being the one in the seat is more important than the rest of it in his mind.

| This whole thread is funny... right down to the title. "LOOK! Lieberman is hurting us again!" Yes, Lieberman said he would support his Democrat friends. But that was before they started speaking out against him and trying to hurt his campaign. How can he possibly help them now? He'd be a hypocrite either way. I read somewhere he said something like "Yes, I agreed to support them, but now that they aren't supporting me it's ackward to defend them." What do the Dems want? They essentially want to rally against Lieberman all the while having him wave a white flag and say "I still support them and their ideals!"??? It doesn't make sense. | ||||
