What facts are those? You think it's a fact that 5 or 6 guys assaulted him? I don't know those guys in the picture looked pretty big. Why doesn't Carlos show an injuries that would be apparent of being attacked by 5 or 6 grown men. For some reason I have trouble believing one small man against six and the men he attacked sustained the worst injuries. That's just using common sense.

Come now. He attacked the provoker, then he was (or thought he was) attacked by others, he tries to defend himself. Both sides show that timeline.

I direct quote from several eye witness accounts..... Same folks who provoked him also where the same folks involved in the incident.

A bystander named Ramesh witnessed the whole encounter and also retrieved the picture of Alex for Carlos. He was quite distressed at how he watched the men follow Carlos as he pulled the memorial, purposefully yelling epiphets and eventually taking Alex’s photograph.

Man takes picture off of casket.
Father tackles man.
Other men try to pull father off first man.
Father bites and attacks other men.

How is that any different from what I said?

The law doesn't deal in those kinds of degrees. The man took a photograph, he didn't kidnap the guy's dead son's corpse. Legally speaking, that picture is no different from my morning newspaper.

That's what's so sad, people are actually defending this despite the statement of the guy who provoked the incident by stealing the photograph off the memorial for his son pretty much confirming what other eyewitnesses have said about the event, just characterizing them differently (ie: liberating the picture vs stealing it, etc)

Actually the only eye witness account so far that states this is the guy who stole the picture. Several accounts confirm the father's story.

The law determines what's legal, not always what's right or wrong.. and right or wrong is what we've been talking about for pretty much the entire thread

In this case there is no difference between liberating the picture (wtf???) and stealing the picture.

The guy who stole it said he 'liberated it' and attempted to justify his actions, characterizing them in the best possible light for his audience (other right wing pro-war folks).. he doesn't deny stealing it and provoking the incident

What are you talking about? There's eye witness accounts from a handful of people in this thread and it was their own words rather than the interpretation of afterdowningstreet.com or some other ridiculous site that completely fabricated and lied about the facts of this story.

Right, and both are provoking a response. The guy did respond, shit happened, everyone was wrong, no one did the right thing.

I know, but there's no such thing as liberating a picture, in fact reading that phrase just pisses me off, he stole the fucking picture, period.

The man was wrong for taking the picture. The father was wrong for tackling the man and attacking the other people trying to pull him off the man. Everyone was in the wrong, no one was in the right, neither side should be defended.

Peterson (the man who took the photo was wrong) and Carlos (the attacked the crowd was wrong). I don't think anyone is saying Peterson was right for taking the photo. But some people refuse to admit Carlos went overboard as he has a history of doing.

Legally wrong, but again, we haven't been talking about that for pretty much the entire thread..

I think the fathers actions were understandable given the circumstance, stealing the picture in the first place however was not.. and then beating the guy and kicking him in the head for trying to get part of his sons memorial back is also not.
