A friend's mother does that.......if the red sox are in a funk she'll get up and run around the chair three times. The only argument I've ever seen my friend's parents have was when she was doing that and the father said "while you're running how about you take a detour and get me a beer." Her luck-changing chair running didn't work and the sox lost and she blamed her husband's talking.
It's insane and irrational but I have to agree with Linz.. if it's not part of the entire game, it's definately part of Red Sox culture.

most definitely. goes along with the whole curse of the bambino and all the other bad "luck" we've had over the years......

it's the natural thought process that occurs in a sox fan's mind. it makes us feel like "we" have a part in the outcome of the game.

I said to my friend once I wish I could tell the players when to have a homerun and then have it happen. he said try it, so I did. and whoever it was up to bat got a homerun. he's like DUDE, That's a pretty awesome superpower......

I believe that cover is regional. I had a different team on mine. (don't remember which because I immediately noticed it was baseball and ignored it.)

I can't stand the red sox. The only time I like them is when they're playing the yankees.
