| "local police brilliance" thread reminded me, someone came in my house I was watching TV at like 11pm and I heard BANG BANG BANG coming across the front porch and I could year yelling. I thought it was these stupid foreign coaches who are visiting (and usually drunk) so it didn't really concern me until the person came in front of the window that had the shades up. I realized I didn't know the guy coming at my side door. So I ran to the door as he was opening the screen door. Turns out he was yelling "I'M BEING ATTACKED!" but I didn't know who he was, it was 11pm, and he put his foot in my dining room. So I put my hand on his chest and shoved him back outside and closed the door. He was terrified. I later found out he really was being attacked, but not quite like he said. He said he got out of his car and someone came around the corner and jumped him. He said he started running and the guy tripped and he got to my porch so the other guy got in a car and drove off. So my wife dialed 911 and he waited on the porch and a car drove by really slowly and then took off. The cops showed up and he went home and it ended. The next day I called the police and asked what happened. They asked why I was asking and I said because my wife is the one who called 911 and because this guy came in my house and I wanted to know if they caught the guy. The cop asked me to tell the whole story and I did, and he said "that's the 4th version of this story we've heard." Ultimately what happened was this guy was selling "something" from his house and he fucked someone. He came home and the guy was waiting for him. He refused to sell or refund or whatever and the guy started kicking the shit out of him.........so the cop said "there isn't a burglar in your neighborhood. He was specifically targeted so you don't have anything to worry about." I said "except that he came on my porch and in my house and the guy saw him do it." The cop said "good point, we'll send someone over." About 10 minutes later a cop came to my house and we talked, then he left and went to the other guy's house. They talked for a few minutes, the guy yelled something, and the cop cuffed him and took him away. I'm still waiting to find out what happened but I doubt I will. | ||||

| For those about to rock... libertarian Atlanta, GA ![]() ![]()
| That's nuts dude. When I lived in Augusta and Statesboro (both in GA) I didn't lock my doors very often. At night if that. Those were smaller towns and no one was really out breaking and entering back then. When I moved to Atlanta, I first lived with 3 other guys in a 2 bedroom apartment. If we were home, the doors were unlocked. Even if someone did try a home invasion, we didn't have anything valuable. Once we all moved out of there, though, I started locking my doors. ATL can be a crazy place. | ||||

| In LA, I found a guy in our compound. I say compound because we had 10' high steel fences all the way around it. This huge guy had climbed the fence and was getting ready to rip us off. I confronted him with a bat and told him he has 3 seconds to climb back over the fence. Once he got on the other side he started talking trash and all tough again. This was in Watts so a lot of gang activity and he said he was going to bring his buddies back to f*** me up. I told him to feel free to try. Never saw him again. My other roommate grew up in LA had someone come in early morning. He waited in his room and when they guy went by he swung his bat as hard as he could at the guy's head. It caught the guy square in the face. The guy got up and ran out so it didn't knock him out. He left a heck of a blood trail though. Moral of story lock all doors. | ||||

| Yeah it really takes no effort to lock your door. at least locking it would deter some punk kids who are just messing around. And if someone really wanted in, it will take them a little while before they can kick your door in. Atleast locking it will buy you time to call 911 or go get your gun if you have one, or a knife.. or set loose your vicious shit-tsu so that it can strike fear into the hearts of the burglers with it's nasty big pointy teeth. | ||||
