Rep. Mark Udall (D-CO) will be introducing a resolution in the House of Representatives on Monday condemning Rush Limbaugh for his ‘phony soldiers' remark. How pathetic....

This is a bold faced lie. And I thought it was a bit overboard to have it brought up. But once it was, to actually vote against it was quite the absurd vote considering you could have voted to agree with it or abstained from voting. In my opinion everyone should have voted against it or not voted. But voting in favor of the ad was just absurd. If Rush had actually said this. And it gets brought up to a vote, people should condemn him for saying it. They should not vote in favor of calling true soldiers phony. But he was clearly referring to the people who pretend to be soldiers to the liberal media and then tell false stories for political reasons. Some, as the one in his example, have even been convicted for it. Last edited by JaJae; 10-01-2007 at 09:28 AM..

| It sells commercials (airtime), doesn't it? The real interesting thing is how liberals somehow can't seem to pull off the same thing- entertaining talk radio. You would think if both sides of an argument are equally valid, then both should be able to garner support of a listening audience and advertisers.

| Get this: Democrats go after Limbaugh By Klaus Marre October 01, 2007 Democrats on Monday called on the chief executive of Clear Channel Communications to denounce remarks by radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, whom they say made a “hateful” and “unpatriotic” attack on U.S. troops opposed to the war in Iraq. At issue is a remark from Limbaugh that characterized such troops as “phony soldiers.” Democrats have seized on the issue, allowing them to hit back at Republicans who similarly latched onto a MoveOn.org ad that referred to Gen. David Petraeus as “General Betray Us.” “Thousands of active troops and veterans were subjected to Mr. Limbaugh’s unpatriotic and indefensible comments on your broadcast,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said in his letter to Clear Channel Chief Executive Mark Mays. “We trust you will agree that not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends serving overseas is a ‘phony soldier.’ We call on you to publicly repudiate these comments that call into question their service and sacrifice and to ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments.” On his show Monday, Limbaugh blasted Democrats for their criticism, saying it is part of a smear campaign aimed at discrediting him. “If anybody in this country has been trying to demoralize the troops, it is you, sir, and your members of the Democrat Party,” Limbaugh said. “You have waved the white flag of defeat.” Reid stated that he is confident that “Republicans join with us in overwhelming numbers,” arguing that “anything less would be a double standard that has no place in the United States Senate.” The Democratic leader stated that the letter would be available all day to allow other senators to sign on. The letter points to a December 2006 poll that shows more service members disapproved of President Bush’s handling of the war than voiced their support for it. “From this figure alone, it is clear that Mr. Limbaugh’s insult is directed at thousands of American service members,” the letter said. In remarks on the Senate floor, Reid noted that Limbaugh’s show is broadcast on Armed Forces Radio, indicating that this makes the matter even worse. The Democratic leader voiced his strong support for the First Amendment but said in this case Limbaugh went “way over the line.” He blasted the popular talk show host for attacking the “courage and character of those fighting and dying for him and for all of us.” TheHill.com - Democrats go after Limbaugh This smear is spreading like a Moonbat virus. Has anybody even bothered to check the record or are they just now responding to the e-mails spread by nutroots over the weekend? Does the truth even matter anymore? ![]() I guess all the good news about Iraq this morning has them worked into an anti-Rush lather.

| HOUSE RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LIMBAUGH Mon Oct 01 2007 15:16:57 ET IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OCTOBER 1, 2007 Mr. KINGSTON submitted the following resolution Honoring all Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and commending broadcaster Rush Limbaugh for his relentless efforts to build and maintain troop morale through worldwide radio broadcasts and personal visits to conflict regions. Whereas the need to show support for American troops serving and fighting both here and abroad during a time of global conflict has never been greater, with the need to communicate an uplifting message of encouragement to American soldiers eternally important, in addition to the morale-boosting value of personal visits to combat region by highly-regarded individuals; Whereas every American, to include service men and women and broadcasters, is entitled to free speech and the free exchange of ideas; Whereas daily radio broadcasts reaching tens of millions of civilians and soldiers both in America and abroad by way of the Armed Forces Radio Network are conducted five days a week by Rush Hudson Limbaugh III; Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has consistently used his broadcast time to praise American troops and support them during their ongoing efforts to secure peace in a troubled world; Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has met with troops in Afghanistan; raised and donated millions of dollars to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides college scholarships to the children of Marines and veterans of other branches killed in action; features an “Adopt a Soldier” program which provides them with free subscription access to his online program features; and Whereas Mr. Limbaugh’s commitment to American troops serving both here and abroad remains as strong as ever: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, Section 1. | Also, we shouldn't pretend like Rush hasn't gone after people who've actually served in the military, in Iraq or Afghanistan and tried to denigrate their service because he disagreed with their political views..
Most of these conservative talking heads are chickenhawks, and Rush is certainly one of the biggest ones. I just have to laugh at people who take him seriously

| Lastly, after listening to the full audio, it's clear to me that Rush isn't just talking about this caller.. he's talking about something broader, which is why he uses the plural: soldiers ..
I don't expect the Limbaugh fan club on here to agree though
