He's been in the industry long enough and had enough success flapping his gums to know to be more specific if he didn't want people to "get the wrong impression" about what he was saying..

When you consider that this isn't the first time he's denigrated someone's service for disagreeing with their political beliefs, I'll go with what I hear him say over any backtracking explanation after the fact.

I guess we differ. Because I listened to the actual broadcast and, to me, it's 100% clear that he's talking about this jesse asshole and others like him...NOT "any soldier"

I think it's fairly obvious what he said and it seems people are twisting his words. I really think this whole scenario is retribution for the Petreaus ad response and really nothing more. The GOP got their hit job against the liberal fringe groups, so now their fighting back. MediaMatters, Moveon.org.. same thing. Funded by the same people...

i don't think its possible to get more specific than he was.

Yeah, the only way you can get the "wrong impression" is if you're intentionally being disingenuous. Or if you're a complete idiot, but I don't think anybody here is that.

have you actually done that? listening to that I honestly can't figure out how to make it seem like he's talking about any soldier who opposes the war.

He has no problem attacking people who serve this country on his show. Why is it such a stretch to believe it here?

He talked about phony soldiers and then went on to talk about that jesse guy, the one who got convicted for falsifying his military record. Why disagree with the caller?

Saying he was hiding his liberalism behind a military uniform is attacking the military? Even when he called him a staff puke (or whatever, going from memory) it sounds like, AGAIN, he's talking about that person and not the military in general.

Again, he "denigrated" (if you want to use that word) that individual. He "denigrated" that Jesse asshole. Like I said, I've never seen his show. Can you show me when "denigrated" the military as a group? Or are you saying that going after any one person in the military is "denigrating" the entire military?

Ok, he's denigrating individuals.

The topic of this thread is that he when he said "phony soldiers" he was attacking all service people who don't want to be in iraq.

You're talking about him going after individuals.

There's a difference between "the entire military" and "the soldiers in the military who don't want to be in iraq"

I'm using past individuals who are a member of that portion of the military as proof of his history of doing the same thing he's doing here, he's just made his attack more broad this time.

Obviously Rush is far too big of a chickenhawk to really ever go after the "entire military" for anything, he needs to be able to fall back on his support for them for his own purposes..

I listened to it again. IMO he's denigrating Jesse Asshole and others the liberals keep digging up who are not really soldiers but are still parading around in front of the media.
