I really have no desire to change from Verizon anytime soon though either, plus I'm happy with my phone as being just a phone now (I had a smartphone previously).

I do not currently own any stand-alone mp3 player... what interests me most is the wireless internet... video... music.... scheduling... instant messaging, etc.

Why not switch and get a phone so you dont have to carry around more then?

also, do these have the 3g or whatever it's called for faster internets?

because right now I'm on a family plan and it costs me almost nothing... all of my minutes are to other Verizon users, some months I use less than 100 minutes... it doesn't make financial sense to switch to AT&T at any point in the near future

I don't think I'd mind carrying around a 2nd device (I wouldn't have to have it all the time), the whole time I'm at work I have a 30lb bag that I carry everywhere I go

I will never go to AT&T/Cingular/Bellsouth Mobility again. I had Bellsouth Mobility way back when and never much cared for them, but when they got bought by Cingular, it was WAY worse (reception-wise). I went to Verizon and have been with them for a few years now, and have never had problems with my reception. When I got my job, they use Cingular for work phones so I'm FORCED to have one, and I swear it seems like their dropped calls and reception is even worse than it was 4 years ago.

When I heard the iPhone was going to be AT&T only, I said "well, guess I won't be getting one of those."

But hey, that's just my opinion.

Same with me. My wife and I both had Cingular. The dropped calls were amazing. My wife is a realtor and she would sometimes drop 4 calls in 10 minutes. And she wasn't in the boonies either. I don't use my phone as much so I only got it every now and then. I tried 3 different phones with her and they were all the same. We switched her to Verizon and she never had another dropped call. I'm lucky that my work allows us to choose our carrier so I switched as well.

But it looks like the Chinese are making iPhone clones that do even more for less $$$ and will work on any carrier. So we might not have to wait long.

I talked to my wife when she was driving down Wendover and her phone dropped me 3 times in less than 5 minutes.

I have the opposite problem ... My verizon phone gets horrible service in my apartment and at Sheana's parents'. I have to walk from my apartment most of the way to the mailboxes near the main entrance before I get good reception on my phone.

I'll probably find a cheaper carrier once my current contract expires. My cell phone bill averages around $60 a month and I hardly use it.
