So what's the final word on the WII? Is it worth spending the money on compared to the PS3 or xbox360?

A lot of the people I talk to say no, because there aren't that many games for it.. but stuff like FPS games I prefer to play on a PC (mouse+keyboard > weird controller thing), so that wouldn't be a primary reason for me to get one of those

I think the wii is cool to play with friends or whatever but not really something that anyone I know plays alone for hours like you often do with the other systems.

The people I know have all essentially recommended the xbox360 or ps3 because of the fps games, but I can't stand playing an FPS without a mouse and a keyboard, so if that's the only advantage those systems have over the Wii I'd be

Fighter games and stuff are fun though.

Our Wii is great because of what Thomez said. We always have people over to the house and the Wii is a perfect system to get everyone in involved. I'm with Mot as far as FPS games go. I think they suck on consoles because of how inaccurate aiming is with the controller compared to a mouse and keyboard.

The Xbox 360 blows the Wii away as far as graphics go (of course) and looks amazing in HD. I have Forza 2, MotoGP 2007, Burnout Paradise and the newest Project Gothem racing games and they all play and look just amazing.

The ONLY reason we got a 360 was because I wanted Rock Band. I didn't miss it otherwise. But now that I have it I do enjoy some of the other games I have gotten for it. I just got Fifa 2008 and ATV vs MX but haven't played them yet. Oh yeah, we have Halo 3 as well which is fun and plays well for a console FPS.

Oh, and if you get a 360, do yourself a favor and get a Modded one. You'll save hundreds of dollars

So if you don't have a lot of people coming over all the time the Wii probably isn't the best system to get?

I don't think so. It's still a great system, and there are some good single player games (Zelda is the only one we had, but I traded it in toward the Rock Band purchase) but I think the 360 has better and Live, of course, makes playing online really easy and fun.

For me it's great for both. In all honesty, though, GH3 is the only game I play on Wii anymore.

My wife got me some cheesy "best rock of the '80s" CD for christmas. I put it in the other day and my two kids started singing the song (I forgot which). The second song came on and they started singing that one......so I said "how do you know these songs?"

It was guitar hero. It's turning them into little hair band head bangers

Guitar Hero and Rock Band are single handedly turning the tide in the war on shitty music.

GH more so than Rock Band, there are a lot of newer emo-esque songs on Rock Band.

Went to Buffalo Wild Wings with a bunch of friends last night and they had a poster up saying they are having a Rock Band night on Monday. We are thinking of practicing Long Time by Boston and entering the contest. Might be a lot of fun after a few 22oz Sams Winter.
