Pelosi Pissed at Anti-War people.

This is great!

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in a determinedly good mood when she sat down to lunch with reporters yesterday. She entered the room beaming and, over the course of an hour, smiled no fewer than 31 times and got off at least 23 laughs.

But her spirits soured instantly when somebody asked about the anger of the Democratic "base" over her failure to end the war in Iraq.

"Look," she said, the chicken breast on her plate untouched. "I had, for five months, people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco, angering neighbors, hanging their clothes from trees, building all kinds of things -- Buddhas? I don't know what they were -- couches, sofas, chairs, permanent living facilities on my front sidewalk."

Unsmilingly, she continued: "If they were poor and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they would be arrested for loitering, but because they have 'Impeach Bush' across their chest, it's the First Amendment."
So anti-war nutjobs are camping out on HER sidewalk? I never heard that before. But, that's what she gets for saying all the things they wanted to hear and then not doing anything about it.

I think she actually raises a good point. If someone is out there constantly that is LOITERING and not freedom of speech. You want to protest during the day one or two or three days in a row fine, but if you camp out there 24/7 for a week or 2 weeks or whatever thats ridiculous. She has every right to be mad IMO and these people need to grow up.

@ the double-fuck up ... First for blowing up over the people that put & keep her in office, and second for basically making fun of homeless people.

a bit tongue-in-cheek, yea.

Though the 2nd part was sort of serious in a way. The Democrats claim to be the party of the poor, yet she decided to talk about homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk outside her house being guilty of a crime, rather than being victims of society like the Dems normally refer to them.

It's doubtful "homeless" people put her in office. The fact is that the Democrats have done jack shit about the war. That's why they were voted into office...they need to do what they were asked to do.

Where are the Press?

They just love Crawford Texas!

For me I cannot wait until the Democrat 2008 Convention. If Nancy thinks this is bad wait for that Circus! And it will get plenty of media coverage. The Daily Kos/Moveon Bunch will get their voices heard!

Just like the Rich Liberals in Malibu, they fight for the right of the homeless to sleep and loiter in "your" neighborhood, not theirs! The rich liberals who just handed big donations to Hillary and Obama do their best to fence off beaches from the public near their muli-million dollar homes. Or should I say one of their homes? They care so much!

If it weren't for people like Boxer the protesters wouldn't have been as prominent as they were. Those people rallied behind her and what she was saying. Now that they're disgruntled they're taking it out on her. Poetic justice so to speak.

I've never understood why the left was so enamored with her to be honest

So far she's been ineffectual and refused to deal with the most important issues to the left, ending the war, and ensuring that the Bush Administration no longer has carte blanche to abuse our civil liberties through illegal warrantless wiretapping

She's also taken impeachment off the table, which is something that IMO should be used considering everything Bush and his Administration have taken part in.. but she's more concerned about the potential political ramifications of losing than doing the right thing.

Now that she is in power she is realizing the world and their jobs aren't as simple as her supporters would like to think they are. It's easy to sit back and call people names and talk big when you have no accountability. Now she is responsible for what might happen with her actions and it seems she has taken a step back. If a Dem wins the presidency we will see much of the same.

somebody asked about the anger of the Democratic "base" over her failure to end the war in Iraq.
I am curious who the "somebody" reporter was.

The questioner's identity makes a much better story, the rest we could have figured. Among the bunch of reporters, someone ought to have revealed the identity of their newsworthy peer, especiallly since it's probably his or her last free lunch.

I tried but everywhere I looked all I found was the same "somebody".

Damn! I want to read more of that person's stuff.
