| Europe growing faster than America The Continent's major economies beat GDP expectations in the second quarter of the year, resulting in the strongest growth in six years. The euro zone grew almost 1 percent last quarter, outperforming the United States, Britain and Japan. The upshot is that the euro zone will likely grow about 2.5 percent this year—up from 1.3 percent in 2005. What's more, Slow Europe is now creating jobs faster than the United States: France and Germany in particular saw strong jumps this spring and summer. Europe Growing Faster Than America - Newsweek: International Editions - MSNBC.com So much for America beating out the "welfare socialist" states of Germany and France | ||||

| Well, when you have double digit unemployment it's hard NOT to have more job creation than a nation running at 5% or less unemployment. | ||||

| Also: 2.5% growth for the year, while better than last year for Europe, is still slower than the U.S., which has been averaging growth in the mid-3% range for the last few years. | ||||

| nice...the GDP of the US is growing much faster than the EU's, period as your article states 2.5% is expected growth this year, last year I thought the WSJ said it was 2.4% but maybe not. The US is expected to come in between 3.5 and 3.8% but they're growin faster? | ||||

| Too bad the BLS unemployment rating has its weaknesses in its accuracy We have unemployment equal to some of the booming times of the late 90s, yet we both know the lower and middle class aren't doing nearly as well as now they did then Also, the US had "double digit" unemployment in 82 and 83, I don't think anyone would say the US had a laughable economy for two years | ||||
