Wtf. I don't care that he's gay but what does it add to the story? I'm sure I'll get a lot of "you're a homophobe" crap and that's completely not it. It's like she went out of her way to declare it but (from what I've read) there's nothing about it in the stories.

Sure, her story and her series (but really it's not) so she can say what she wants to say. But on the other end why bring it up? If she didn't think it was important enough to write into a book why go off on a tangent that has nothing to do with any of the stories?

I kinda agree with 7960. Why give a character a sexuality when it wasn't important enough to bring up explicitly in the story? All characters are sexually ambiguous unless (or until) it's needed to be defined... hell, Bugs Bunny could have been a homo, but that doesn't matter, his having sex with dudes or women was never in a cartoon. But we do know he's a cross dresser

That's what I'm talking about.

None of the other professor characters have sexuality either way. Like I said, I don't care that he's gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). It just doesn't make sense for her to go way out on this tangent for no apparent reason.

The article says it's been a topic of discussion for a long time on HP webboards. I don't get it. I read a story and it goes in a direction.....at the end I don't think I've ever finished a book and thought "I bet that character is gay/straight and that's what caused <some issue>."

She's probably trying to make some kind of social statement out of it. She stole a good idea and wrote some great stories from it. Now it seems like she's gotten a little too self-important for her own good.

I agree. She can say whatever her mood is that day. It's her imagination we all read and if she wants to add to it, ok.

At another venue she also talked about what happened to everyone in the future. Who married who, etc. She brought out more detail than was in the book. But if it's not really in the book, written, is it really a part of the story? I think not.

I think she may be 'geeing her self up' to write another book in the series in 2/12/20 years time

It must be well daunting for her to write a non-Potter book

Worrying about her filling in the insatible curiosity of 'fan-boys' seems bloody odd to me, ..., but then i only read half the 4th book & couldnt see what all the fuss was about & thus have nowt invested in the issue
