I won't argue with you. If you didn't learn it or if you just disagree, ok. But a noose on a limb is much more than just a rope on a tree. Chains on a license don't mean shit...wrap them around a black guy's neck and THEN see how people react. It's all about context.

It seems that a cross was put around a statue of Tupac neck with a piece of rope and they are calling it a "noose." In the news article they even show a picture of the cross with a noose picture next to it. Whatever....

A statue commemorating slain rapper, actor and activist Tupac Shakur is among the latest targets of a hangman's noose, according to the foundation bearing Shakur's name.

Detectives have been investigating the first incident, as are Department of Homeland Security investigators, Hodge said. Specifically, authorities are looking into the stickers that were plastered on the statue, Hodge said, adding that they did not consider the rope tied around the neck of the statue to be a noose but a way to fasten a wooden cross to the likeness. "From reading the report, it doesn't sound like a hate crime," Hodge said.

I don't see any possible mistake in this case. Not with kids from the South. They may not have the old attitudes, but they know about them.

During Halloween growing up there must have been 10 houses that had scare crows hanging from trees. Some with pumpkin heads, some with burlap sacks, some with T-shirts and faces painted on it. Not once, ever, did I think about it being racist. Now there are stories in the news of homeowners being asked to take down their decorations because of this. This is something new.

This was not Halloween, and this was an area where the white students gathered and blacks were not welcome. Now I can't make too much of that as just a white racist thing since blacks have their own areas in schools all over and will enforce segregation with violence and intimidation. But I think this case is clear. The act was wrong, and the violence against this one white student was much worse. There are NO heros in this tale. I don't know what I find more offensive? The behavior of the students or the behavior of adults who made excuses for the white kids who hung the noose or the ones doing the same for the Jena six now? To quote Shakespeare all should be "punished."

The editor of Golfweek magazine said he was overwhelmed by negative reaction to the photo of a noose on the cover of this week's issue, illustrating a story about the suspension of a Golf Channel anchor for using the word "lynch" in an on-air discussion about how to beat Tiger Woods.

"We knew that image would grab attention, but I didn't anticipate the enormity of it," Dave Seanor, vice president and editor of the weekly magazine, said from the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla.

"There's been a huge, negative reaction," he said. "I've gotten so many e-mails. It's a little overwhelming."

Among the critics was PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem, who said he found the imagery to be "outrageous and irresponsible."
Apparently we have someone else who wasn't taught that a noose would evoke "a huge, negative reaction."

Taken as an average across the entire country, blacks earn less than the average of whites. This is true. What is not true, is that discrimination is behind it.

Whites earns less than Chinese and Japanese, on average. Are we to assume that there is a pro-Asian, anti-white bias in this country? Because that is what you were implying by saying that "whites make more than blacks, women, and minorities."

That's mostly indicative of systemic discrimination based on socioeconomic status. You're talking about two totally different situations but I think that race also plays a role in both cases. Asians benefit from the "model minority" stereotype and we all know how black people are portrayed. These are things that operate on a subconscious level so it's hard to pin down exactly how much they affect decisions. There must be something to it though or else advertising wouldn't be a billion dollar business.
