IF the administration bails out the folks in California who had no or insufficient insurance to cover losses, they should be tarred and feathered made to stand in the town square with dunce caps on their heads. If thay are stupid enough to do that, that would be the least consequence, I sincerely hope for the good of the country that they are not that stupid.

Parts of the State have been deemed a disaster area. Which means they are going to get Federal funds. It happens all the time.

I was there 2 years ago. The feds bought up a bunch of land so it'll never be developed again. People were paid for the land...paid to leave. How about you get to a point.

in the case of New Orleans, much of the land (soil) was and still is contaminated and pretty much unlivable. I'm fairly sure that in 10-15 years many who moved back into the lower 9th into their homes (those that were still standing) will end up sick.

If the area that has home damage is affluent, they will get a replacement.

If the area is poor, it will probably be lossed out.

The people with money are able to get more done as far as recovering losses, than the poor.

And California's fire areas have some worthy land.

I know if Skid Row was on fire, it would be hyped, but just like areas of Katrina, and other naturally devestated areas, they don't build over the destruction of they deem the people and land worth the investment.

The interesting idea behind "Aid" is that it has a hard time finding a place that everyone likes.

Should the Federal Government give money to California to rebuild? It already has in the past, why should it stop now. Fires, earthquakes, drought, floods...We've got reasons just like Florida, Louisiana, as well as any other state to want to take money from the Federal Government, we do it because everyone else does.

But, make no mistake about it, if Malibu or Newport Beach are on fire, they will be out before a fire in Stanton or Compton.

It's not even that it's wrong. It's the way it is.

Why should the government pay for people who chose to move into an area known for catastophic forest fires? It's a known hazard! That's like saying the government should pay to fix my house after the fault line I live on rips it in half.

You get insurance, if you can't get insurance (or enough of it) you better have you're own funds to care for it or move the fuck away.
