Keep trying what? The UN route?

Personally i think our negotiating power with the UN and the world would be significantly greater if we never put our foot in Iraq. As in, this problem would be nearly over with by now.

Right. We'd still be arguing with Saddam, he would still be breaking all his promises. The UN would have done nothing to enforce their resolutions and the message to everyone in the world would be to do what you want, there will be no consequences. The UN has no power, no teeth, no authority. I think the the world would be even MORE emboldened to not take anything that the UN says seriously. At least now Iran has to have in the back of their minds that; "Well, Bush is just crazy enough to bomb the shit out of us if we go too far."

I would say against with the understanding that it's inevitable.

i thikn they have more of an opportunity to be crazier. NK is completely surrounded by people that don't support them or agree with what they are doing. they'd be annihiliated the moment they tried something crazy. NK is a dog in a cage.

OTOH, Iran is free in an area of people that don't care what they are doing. iran has hezbollah and other groups they fund in other countries. they are making weapons for people in that region; people that want to destroy other countries and peoples. it's a whole different scenario

UN inspectors were still inside Iraq working...WE pulled them out

He was boxed in on all sides, there was no threat, the UN, through US pressure had done an amazing job, the only US complaint was "hey they aren't finding WMD so Saddam must not be complying!!!"

I really don't think that the Middle East's opinion of Israel could get much lower even if they bombed Iran

What the world thinks of Israel isn't really our concern and if we quit sending them cash and arms, people wouldn't (or would be less likely to) tie what they do to us

im just sellin some oranges

huntington beach
slosucks has political potential

sanctions never work, there is no answer for iran, and if you think you have an answer than chances you are wrong. ahme is a crazy madman, the only thing that would stop him is a bullet to the head, but another war in the middle east is asking far too much from the troops so thats out, you cant talk to the guy, so thats out, the UN has no effect on anyone, this is too complicated and i think we have to wait it out. israel isnt afraid of iran because if israel and iran get in a war, it would be army v army, not army v guerillas in civilian areas, so it would be a much easier war for israel.
