The battle of Guilford Courthouse was fought here in Greensboro (named after General Green). That battle is considered the turning point of the Revolutionary war. The battle was "lost" but the British lost so many troops that they were never able to recover from their "victory". I have been going to the reenactments for years and now our Cub Scout Pack goes every year.

It's cool enough that a friend and I checked into it but it's expensive as hell. A few thousand $ to get started. It's not that cool.

the rev war.....my mom was. it was an AWESOME experience growing up. developed a keen interest in history, got to dress up in "olden day clothes" growing up. got to travel all around to different rev war battlefields and have people come look at us... it was cool. i was thinking about joining something like that when i moved to Boston, but never got around to it....

we did used to have a civil war dance in the little town i grew up in though. we'd all dress up in authentic dress and have dinner and have a real band come.... that was fun too.

I love history and all, but dressing up and going to a reenactment is a little too close to LARP for my taste.
