I visited you North Carolina folks today

My uncle called yesterday in desperate need to find someone to help him haul a load of aluminum from NE Ohio to Winston-Salem North Carolina... I originally told him I couldn't go, but thought about it more and made the necessary arrangements... I could use the money and it was nice to do something different.

Anyways, I worked my normal schedule yesterday (7am-2:30pm), went to the gym, and then got ready.... we left his house last night @ 7:30PM, loaded up and left the factory at about 9PM, and drove straight through to Winston-Salem... we were too early to get unloaded (think... 5AM) so we went to a Waffle House and had breakfast... finally unloaded @ 8:30 or 9 this morning, and we drove straight back... this time more through WV and PA... terrible idea... bad traffic and construction... arrived home at about 7PM. I drove at least 12 hours.... we stopped once between North Carolina and home...

I've been up since 5:30am yesterday.... ephedrine and caffeine are amazing.... especially in combination...

just wanted to let you NC guys know that I was in your hood today and I wished I had time to come say hello...

goodnight

No, I watch very little tv, basically just sports.

I was compensated $300 and all meals were paid for.
I called off sick for my regular job and missed going out on a Friday night... and I missed my normal trip to the gym on Friday.
The aluminum was for some kind of overhead stage apparatus that will hang in the air like 70 feet... the guy did not elaborate much.

Scenery was a wonderful fall-colored one with most of the leaves still on the trees... very pretty.

£150 plus food & drugs, ..., a nice rate

i never go anyway & rarely do owt much so i live my life vicariously, ..., the specifics/vagueness ratio of the aluminium usage is just about right for me to speculate wildly, ..., thank you.

Winston Salem highways are fucking retarded though, whoever designed them deserves to be shot..

You have these on-ramps where you have to merge into the off-ramp's oncoming traffic going 60+ mph.. and try to get over another lane before the 100-200ft of off-ramp lane ends and you're forced to exit wherever the hell it is the off-ramp is going.

Ugh, it's the most retarded thing ever.. I've never experienced it until I moved here and went through Winston.. and outside of that I don't think I've seen any either.. usually the part where you merge and the place to exit aren't so close together!

I can't think of one offhand that I saw in Texas either, but granted I haven't lived there in 7 years

Would you believe I actually thought they might have filmed some outside work in NC for that great show.

So I did a Google and I found this:

WARNING MAYBERRY ILLUSION SPOILER ALERT!

The Andy Griffith Show

Culver City and Beverly Hills!

I bet you have some nice people to place such a town in your State.

Did You Know? Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee) liked the real-life town of Siler City, NC so much, she retired there after The Andy Griffith Show?

Winston isn't a bad city. You drove right past the famous Pilot Mountain. Great hiking trails that go all the way around the nipple (knob) up there. My kids love it. We usually go a few times a year. The road from Pilot Mountain to Winston where it's 2 lanes each way with lots of trees dividing the highway is were I had gotten my Ninja to 155mph on a couple Sunday mornings.

my parents retired very close to siler city. I think the "town" consists of a post office and a gas station at an intersection.

I've heard that Andy Griffith can still be seen walking the streets of Manteo, NC every once in awhile. I haven't seen him, but I probably wouldn't recognize him if I saw him anyway.
