| You guys are high...... They are considered by Rolling Stone magazine to be in the top 50 greatest albums ever made. Nirvana comes in at #17 beside the Beatles, Elvis, Hendrix, and Dylan. YouTube - Rolling Stone 50 Greatest Albums of All Time They were also one of the top albums ever sold. (not that it is an indicater of quality as Spears and Backstreet Boys are on the list) but it does speak to popularity and how much they shaped the music culture. edit; For some reason it won't let me link the page to it?? | ||||

Popularity means dick......... No Doubt, Kenny Rogers, and Ace of Base are higher than nirvana on the "number of albums sold" list. That certainly can't mean they're "best" at anything besides selling albums. | ||||

| Actually some albums that were higher on the list were none of the ones you mentioned but some funny ones regardless. All time top was the Eagles greatest hits at 29 million. Then Michael Jackson 27 mill, Led Zeppelin, and pink Floyd at 23 mill. The funny ones are whitney houston, Britney Spears, Meatloaf, Backstreet Boys, Boys 2 Men, Shania Twain, Kenny G, and Celine Dion all above Nirvana. | ||||

| Where did he say that? I'm not sure how you even inferred it. He talked about quality with regards to Spears. | ||||

| kinnell, ..., this is what comes from discussing music with seps firstly the belief that rock & pop are mutally exclusive is wrong, ..., i'd cite early who singles as proof as i would 'teen spirit' & 'lithium' amongst many many others secondly citing a professional music critics choice, (especially from Rolling Stone), as a measure of anything meaningfull at all shows a lack of understanding & appreciation that defies description without resorting to stuff like screwdrivers, ..., they are all without exception total scum the world could well do without argueing that musical competance matters in determining merit is actually a crime here in the UK & some of you, (lou), have been careless with your personal info. I'd watch out for for burly men travelling in ancient yellow minis if i were you, ..., though this is a warning that you dont really deserve nirvana wrote well decent songs & a couple of classics & performed well, ..., their place in rocks rich tapestry is well earned & secure, ..., unlike AiC, STP & PJ who arent going to be remembered even by their mothers nirvanas current immense significance lies in the effect they had on the market, ..., essentially they brought 'indie' to the US mainstream. it probably would've happened anyway sooner or later. right, ..., that told you lot, you better've paid attention coz i'll not be so politic next time | ||||
