I was reading the recent issue of Rolling Stone, and this quote jumped at me towards the end, when he was asked about being optimistic:

"The reason I don't worry about society is, nineteen people knocked down two buildings and killed thousands. Hundreds of people ran into those buildings to save them. I'll take those odds every fucking day."

i am in the military and that is quite posible the most offensive and fucking inhuman thing i have ever heard. i know of several people in this country that would have kicked his ass for saying something like that. that someone could put something like 9/11 in that kind of context is just fucking sick. to bad he wasn't in the building and one of those men or women went in a saved him i bet he would be singing a very different tone right now.

First of all, I don't see what you being in the military has to do with his quote, it certainly doesn't make your opinion more important than someone who isn't in the military.. and secondly, I think you've completely misunderstood the point he made in that quote.

He's saying that society is filled with more good people than bad people, ie: 19 people trying to do harm (by knocking down the twin towers) vs hundreds of people trying to do good by helping (rushing in to save those in harms way)..

I fail to see how his quote is offensive or inhuman, what I find offensive is wishing someone was in one of those buildings because you disagree (or have misinterpreted) their remarks..

Learn to read what is written. This is a perfect example of not having a clue? No idea what you think his quote means..........
