| I've driven about 40,000 miles in my car. I average close to 35 mpg, so that's about 1,150 gallons of gas. When I got the car gas prices were around $1.80 per gallon here, so let's say it has averaged $2.50 per gallon in the time I've owned the car. That's $2,875 roughly. Oil changes are about $25 a pop, every 5,000 miles as recommended by Honda, so that's another $200. I've had to replace the tires once all the way around, another $300ish, plus state registration and inspection which has totaled around $300. Other regular maintenance has totaled probably $500. So I undershot it SLIGHTLY, looking at the total cost before insurance it looks to have been about $4,200. Add another $1800 for insurance over the past 3 years so $6,000. | ||||
